This is known as dynamic loading. If the lowering line is run properly, the top runs in a controlled decent. The top, which is being lowered down to prevent property damage, doesn't stop suddenly, and the climber doesn't go for the unfortunate ride. There are lots of reasons why this can happen. There was probably a ground man apologising profusely after this happened. This guy is a pro. You can tell by his calm demeanor as he hangs up his saw. Sometimes shit just happens in the tree business.
Well, the climber should have taken a smaller top for such a tall skinny trunk but basically did nothing wrong. The groundperson holding the rope should have let the top run slowing but not stopping the fall unless and until forced to so as to avoid damaging any property that may have been below. Letting it run just a little slowing to a stop if necessary would have made a big difference. The groundperson if new needs a serious talking to, and if not new but is just too stupid then needs fired.
Actually the climber didnt make the mistake. It was the groundman who stopped the fall too abructly. The next one I cut Id tried to hit him in the head.

dude i had a guy cut my tree down once i swear it was his irst day on the job he cut below where he was hooked so he fall down with the piece of tree luckly he had another rope tied to the other tree he was stuck there for about 2 mins trying to release the rope attached to the cut piece
There are 2 scenarios here that could have changed the outcome. 1) Don't cut such a big top next time. That's a lot of weight that's going to be crashing into such a small diameter tree. 2) The rope-man, IF POSSIBLE, needs to let that top run almost to the ground, while still maintaining fluid control. It's an art and it takes years of experience but you have to protect the climber in situations like that.

There are 2 scenarios here that could have changed the outcome. 1) Don't cut such a big top next time. That's a lot of weight that's going to be crashing into such a small diameter tree. 2) The rope-man, IF POSSIBLE, needs to let that top run almost to the ground, while still maintaining fluid control. It's an art and it takes years of experience but you have to protect the climber in situations like that.
