I believe the US manual actually called Crystal Core, Monarch. It had a habit of giving the core's names different than their original. At least, from what I remember of the manual. As for the Yu-Gi-Oh card thing. Konami has some influence with Yu-Gi-Oh, thus several Graduis ships cameo as cards. So quite literally, Crystal Core was made into an official Yu-gi-Oh Card. Being that this is my favorite boss of the game. I would quite like that card.

@Mage13246 It wasn't a coincidence, it was fully intentional. Yu-Gi-Oh and Gradius are both Konami trademarks, I believe.

Ah I totally forgot about that. I just remembered that Konami made Yu Gi Oh. But I never thought that they would do that intentionally. Boss Rush, Gradius and Gradius Flyer, Big Core. Well I'm sure Cyrus (YUGIOH Gx) would be shocked to find out that it came from a video game.

*Crystal Core creeps onto the screen as I stare at it murderously*

Crystal Core has to be my favorite Gradius boss ever. On Arcade difficulty, it's one of 3 bosses that kill me on a regular basis. That crossfire he generates when the tentacles sweep across the screen while firing shots and Twin Lasers at me simultaneously... I went and played the Arcade Game for Gradius II just so I could beat Crystal Core at the game he came from :)

This boss is named Monarch. It move in slow sweeping patterns, and is among the most elegant of the bosses in this game. This theme fits it so well; good memories.

Also, am I the only one who thinks of Megaman when I hear this song? xD

I always thought this boss' name was Monarch too, but apparently not. Loved the music and the elegance of this boss.

As for Megaman - remotely reminds me of music from the boss stage of Megaman 2

this song was pretty cool. love it, the song matches the boss theme lol. tht boss was pretty hard at first lol. the hardest boss i thought was the one round like a ball. shooting lasers and little blue balls at you lol. i love this game too, pretty coolz for me. ahahhaha
