Callisto is THE most completely psychotic and dangerous and genuinely disturbing villain in that Xena faces.

"But what about Dahak?" you ask? Dahak is an eldritch, supernatural force of evil.

Callisto is the living symbol of all the horrible things Xena did in her past, come back to destroy her in a way far worse than physical death.

In a way it's almost a let down that she became an angel :D

CALLISTO is the best enemy of XENA. This fights between them were better from the others female evil ones. ALTI - DISCORD - HOPE - VELASKA - THE FURIES - LYDIA or EVE - ATHENA thats all I remember. Sorry if I mispelled their names wrong.

@underworldisis then did you see the episode (after Lucy Lawless had injured herself falling from a horse during taping) that Hudson as Calisto took on Xena's soul and fought side by side with Ares? Ares was human at the time and the episode starts with Ares having a really nice hangover on a boat :)

@Mlindos Xena and Gabrielle rescued Calisto from the cave Hercules left her in (the scene starts out with Calisto playing with rats) because Valasca had fought Xena and ate the ambrosia to make herself a goddess. In the episode where Xena's soul was first in Autolicus then in Gabrille's body when she fought Valasca, a small bit of ambrosia fell and got stuck in between her breasts. In " A necessary Evil" after they rescue Calisto, Xena gives her that small bit of ambrosia because ...cont.

@Mlindos (cont.) after eating from the Tree of Life in the cave she was trapped in, Calisto was already immortal so the ambrosia made her a goddess...with the agreement that she'd help Xena fight Valasca and keep her from seeking vengence on Gabrielle for becoming Amazon queen when she felt she should have been. So That's where the fire power came from :)

You're thinking of the episode.."Sacrifice" Parts 1 and 2. Callisto's aiding Dahak's daughter.."Hope" in her quest for rebirth and greater power. She's the one you saw within the cocoon.

I always found their situation to be quite ironic. Callisto spent the remainder of her life seeking revenge against Xena, and she never even figured out that the true culprit behind her family's death, was Darphus. Xena originally ordered that all women and children are to be evacuated from Cirra. The betrayal of Darphus began years before Xena's encounter with Hercules.

Granted, Callisto would've still lost her father, but she seemed more content with her mother. There's also the sister, etc.

30 sec to 43 seconds, we se callisto get use to the idea of attacking the bad guys, and she sees how it is just as fun if not more to kill them. we see callisto being somewhat benevolent to the commmon people. makes me wonder what kind of goddess she would have made. without all the anger.
