Very cute. Whilst cats do not really like their fur being ruffled too hard, it most certainly does not hurt them. And kittens generally get scared quite a lot, everything is so new to them. That kitten is old enough to make its own body heat. The only way it can die is if someone leaves it out in the snow for a long time. Anyone would have to be an idiot or be pretty heartless to do that though.

You find kittens in bowls, shoes, between couch cushions... etc., whereever they feel like it.
