i suppose to really understand democracy you shouldnt look to a deffinition but a example look to the earlly greek texts at the times before solon and draco you might find some shocking similaritys to were we are heading now you will find how debtors and creditors related to each other in that time and why democracy came into being
The whole "this is a constitutional republic, NOT a democracy!" meme is a patriot/constitutionalist urban legend -- time to put it to rest. The correct answer is "all of the above." We are a constitutional, representative republic, with democratically elected reps. And we have a long tradition of direct democracy too, especially in small towns.
Jefferson's party, after all, was the Democratic Republicans. If that's good enough for Tom Jefferson it's good enough for me.
YOu notice this keeps referencing this with pictures of our country in it. I do'nt think it's aimed at other countries. I think it is to be put in scale to our country. It just uses some examples of other countries. probably ones expected at the time. they maybe purposly putting those in to get people not to look deeper and critisize any deeper meanings.
The USA is a Constitutional republic - A constitutional republic is a state where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people and must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government's power over citizens.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all."
Yes it was. The US Govt. had "newsreels" and "educational films" like this all during WWII and this one was done by Encyclopaedia Britannica and filmed at Yale University. I remember watching this in school in 1962. They also used to show these films at the theaters before the feature movie began. Another one of my favorites from this company was one I saw, I think in the same year, called The Lottery. Those were the days! They don't make good educational films like this anymore.
you are manipulating facts. There are certain types of democracy. It doesnt mean mob rule. Although republicans are the party that want mob rule which is obvious in their ignorant ridicule of democrats or anyone that thinks differently than them. Our country is a Representative Democracy. The MAJORITY votes elect a representative. Representatives dont always fullfill the wish of the people. Once in office, they make their own selfish decisions, which dont always reflect the publics wish.
The fat guy with the cigar at around 2:50 sure seems strikingly like RushLimbaugh...
Very interesting video indeed. It sure likes we were putting that video out to show flaws with other countries but it sure does reflect back at us in our current time(Im only halfway throught the video at this moment though)
Interesting note, when their saying the pledge of allegence about a minute into it they say "One nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all" leaving out the contrevesial phrase "Under god"
that is because.. for a time prior, that statement wasn't put "IN" to the pledge.. it is at the whim of the "POWERS THAT BE" most things exist today..or "once existed" we believe what we are told, only a few SMART question the majority... are not the majority wrong? I firml;y believe so.
@iammrkcohen With all due respect intended and requested hopefully, what is your comment on the term being used in our country's national anthem? (fourth stanza).
@iammrkcohen Good observation. The Pledge of Allegiance is socialist propaganda anyway, and adding "under God" just obscures the problematic point of praying to a flag (which according to my understanding, is idolatry). It also obscures the reality behind the wording: Americans were being trained to hold allegiance toward a Unitary State rather than to united States.
Slapping "God" onto the whole mess, I imagine, made it more palatable to the Christian sheeple.
It is logical. The greater the wealth in a few hands sets in motion aristocracy. After all what were the lords and kings of old but people who claimed all the wealth as rightfully theirs? And where did these systems come from but from merchants who became wealthy and set themselves up as kings.
Excellent. Who made this, the America Firsters?

humm i was taught in school it was democracy in a republic ie constitutional republic sounds right
however democracy is often loosely thrown around to mean a nation that governs itself for the most part at a local level
and comes together against mutal threats only
and also it fundamentally opposes tyranny

@xlightwavex You are correct. We are indeed a Republic, not a democracy, always have been (until very recently lmao now it's just a police state).

Never underestimate the amount of brainwashing that has been effective on the American public. Fear is also an effective propaganda tool.
