Valentine One employs a large glass 'fish eye' lens making it very good at detecting off axis and scattered l.i.d.a.r signals. I am ex USAF and I'm the person who contacted valentine one to use a large glass fisheye lens..before that they only used photo detection diodes. I got the ideas for military laser tag..M.I.L.E.S gear I used.

Dude, picking up radar from behind you is VERY important. A lot of times you'll get a CHP going the other way with radar.. then a mile down the road he will swing around on you and come from behind and pick you off.. with the V1 there's never any doubt which way the radar is coming from. I'd say 50 - 60% of radar threats have come from behind me while driving..

@MrBadfish2 I've only had that happen to me once. And the cop didn't get me on radar. He just told me it looked like you were driving fast so slow down. Most radars will be upfront, that's a fact, but I guess that's important too. Cops on the side of the highway sometimes check speeding cars both moving toward and away from him.

Actually, no... All DSR2 Stalker Radars have both rear and forward facing radar antennas. They use both regularly.

@CaptainJackRyan I agree with MrBadfish2. And radar is effective in any direction. In case you are not aware, police use front, rear, and (in rare occasions) side radar antennas. Knowing the direction of the radar is key to pinpointing the location of the officer to better determine the situation.

I have a V1 as well. I see alot of criticism but if u know it like a regular owner does you know the false alerts 99% of the time. The direction of the source helps alot as well despite negative comments. You know if the radar is even facing the direction of your car. Fuck laser tho jeez

I suppose that ghosting could be used for multiple signals from one source, but I've always known that to be called "Scatter"

"Baiting" is what you described below... When you drive behind someone who's speeding then slow down when he's getting tagged by a radar/laser.

"Scatter" is an "indirect" signal of a laser/radar bouncing off cars around you that's caught by the V1. V1's are sensitive to lasers, therefore can catch "scattered" laser signals.

"Ghosting" is when the detector picks up numerous bogeys when there is actually only one that's emitting a signal.

I don't know what the hell you people are talking about... Ghosting is a term defined as when someone with a radar detector follows behind someone else that is speeding, when the person speeding triggers a radar trap, the person with th detector will slow down and let the other guy get the ticket.

In this video that extra beep is because the V1 was picking up a 2nd KA signal, from either radar scatter or an actual signal from another radar unit.

that's another terminology i have never heard before. ghosting is when you pick up more than 1 radar from a single source. if the counter says 2-3 but there's only 1 source. this is ghosting. i have a V1 for over a year now. great range and ghosting isn't a problem because you still know there's a radar up ahead or behind.
