  • good god. their singer is so under rated and looked over. hands down one of the better singers in the world. but periphery is so known for their rediculously amazing music, the guitarists really get all the attention.

  • Periphery, The true Djentleman.

  • Phenomenal! Simply gorgeous, passionate music.

  • This is my first time listening to Periphery.I think God helped make this celestial song...

  • damn that guy can sing

  • Dat rhythm at 3:29... gets me every time. =)

  • djizz!... I'm sure someone's already said this before. Pardon my crude emulation.

  • i find it amusing that there was an ad for progressive insurance on this song.

  • Love it..Catch em wiv Dream Theater..What a night thats gonna be FEB 9th 2012

  • I think I kinda like this version better, even though it lacks the harsh vocals...

  • 3:06 sounds like a successful "release" into the private sector of the female gender.

  • If I could recommend any song to anyone in any place, it would be this song to everyone, everywhere. Or something, I don't give-shit fuck-a

  • Best Guitar Solo Evaaaaar!

  • Two people can't survive at the edge left alone

  • Is this the new vocalist or the older vocalist?

  • @TheBitTV newer I think

  • @TheBitTV Spencer the new one :D i think he just took a different approach to it this time round :D

  • @konversion Lolz. It's funny because it's true! His 14 year old self who's talking shit like a grown man will get grounded and possibly whupped for it. Lolz. Your comment just made my day.

  • @konversion fag

  • @hotpurple4 Oh, you just ruined my day. I have never had anyone question my sexuality because they are too simple minded to think of any other insult. I don't know if I can go on living because my feelings are that hurt...

  • v.2.0 doesn't mean radio friendly. Its just the version off the ep as opposed to the album.

  • What's the difference?

  • 3:52 <3

  • 3:05 favorite part of the song. I mean, i thought the original version of this song was amazing, but i absolutely love all of the vocal effects and clean singing that they added in.

Also, is it just me or does this version seem just a tad slower and more laid back than the original?

  • @JustinDunwiddie You can appreciate.. and still realize one version is better than the other.

Allow me to quote your thought process here, "If you really liked [Band X] you would never criticize anything they do, ever." Yeah..... no.

Anyone who is good, has made mistakes, and learning from those mistakes has made them good. Anyone who is mediocre/shit has made mistakes, heard no criticism from themself or others, and went on making those mistakes. Apparently, you think that's correct.

  • @wifflum I couldn't have stated it better.

  • @konversion You're fucking stupid. You can't expect Periphery to be all BR00T4L and have screams every verse or bridge. You obviously can't appreciate the atmosphere of the clean vocals either. In version 1.0, there's not even half a minute worth of screams. Other than that, the songs are pretty much the FUCKING SAME. I've heard screams on the radio so it obviously isn't a "radio friendly" version. A song can be heavy as fuck and still have cleans. Conceited bastard.

  • @JoelLara All of their songs have clean vocals somewhere. I appreciated the original for the almost 100% clean vocal until everything drops back in towards the end, giving you a slap in the face and making you say, "holy shit, what the fuck?" This version takes that extreme and well-place contrast and throws it in the garbage, hence throwing the song in the garbage, IMO. Given this band was originally without a vocalist, What's-his-face is just an addition, not a necessity. This version negated.

  • @JustinDunwiddie Wow, you kinda suck. Must I quote myself? "Never hearing this version, I thought that maybe this was something besides just a redub of the vocals." Being a fan doesn't make you like everything a band releases, even if it is a shot at more money. There are certain bands I love but it doesn't unsuck the songs they released that sucked. Periphery is an awesome band but this version of this song just sucks.

  • @konversion uh no. spencer's vocals are like 5x better here compared to the original version. that alone makes this version superior. the end.

  • I'm sorry but this version of the song fucking sucks. I like this band but why release a radio edit? You're in a genre of music that only so many people will like so why take the time to release the radio friendly version? It's like trying to get US top 40 radio stations to play Drum & Bass... it just ain't happening.

  • @konversion It's not just about being radio friendly man...I like screaming and clean vocals alike, but I appreciate this version very much. Screw getting on top 40, this song is stunning either way.

  • @konversion its not a radio edit...

  • Ascendance............ key word

  • This is the definition of "DUH-JENT"

  • both versions of this song are amazing, hands down.

  • Holy fuck his voice is amazing

  • apparently 2.0 is the audio for their video for this song because i played them next to each other and there are no differences :l

  • I love this song, only from 0:00 to 4:22 though

  • GSL August!

  • played this for my Music history Class and someone Said it was punk and i turned around and said HECK NO! its DJENT BITCH and well you know proggresive metal. School was impressed with my music cause they never have heard of Proggresive metal.... i hate alabama well 1 Periphery Fan here.

  • @TaylorA541 I live in Alabama too.. only 50% of the population here knows what music even remotely entails. It's sickening.

  • Ohh Spencer<3 The way he says "I waste life like its nothing but a fantasy" at 3:12 drives me crazyy! And his clean screams<3 Godd, just his vocals in general drives my hormones insane. Spencer Sotelo<3333

  • I fucking love Spencer's voice and the sound of Bulb's guitar.

but I honestly prefer this song version 1.

  • 3:30 Instant orgasm. :o love this band.

  • Someone mustve accidentally disliked lol

  • I want to hear a redone version of the old Icarus Lives! the one with Casey Sabol. I like the lyrics better.

  • I wish I could explain how much I love this song. I mean, I could be in the worst mood in the world, and this song will pull me out of it every fucking time. This is the fucking music of the gods. <33333333333

  • @RadassCupcake

    Right?!

  • @JustinDunwiddie

Just the shear amount of genius that went into this song. The music is so flawlessly put together, and the lyrics are so capturing. Makes me wonder why popstars are even popular.

Compare this to someone saying the same thing 800 times with a shitty sampled track in the background.

  • @RadassCupcake Music of the gods? Dude, frak the gods.

  • @DelayTheDecay hahahah yes. frak the gods. :P

  • @RadassCupcake well the lyrics hit me 2, really a hard time when i first heard the 2.0 edition

  • @RadassCupcake

FRAK THE GODS, this is the music of chuck norris.

  • @RadassCupcake So true :) I feel the same way!

  • @RadassCupcake Man.. Frack the gods! lol

  • @RadassCupcake dude, sometimes i just listen to this song on repeat. my bf doesn't understand how i can keep listening to it over and over, but....how can you not? :) This was the first time i got to see all the lyrics as well. Wow. It's bands like Periphery, and Tool that give me faith in mankind. Thank you so much for your songs. And the band name is brilliant. ;) Absolutely brilliant. Very enlightened men there.

    Love and Light <3

  • @DefiantHarmony if your boyfriend doesnt get it dump him and go out with me, I have yet to meet a girl who knows Periphery haha.

  • seeing them live was amazing. Spencer grabbed my head while i was crowd surfing and gave me a nob. I came in my pants. It was during this song too. Obviously they didn't play V.2, but it was during Jetpacks. Oh god...it was amazing. I love them. All of them. Dream team.

  • what's the difference between this and the original version?

  • @NoUsernameAssinged

Really? Not to sound like a jerk but there are a few:

-Spencer's screams from the original are taken out in this one

    -Clean vocals at the end

-Additional lyrics including an added chorus at the end

-Misha's solo has an added whammy part at the end of the solo

    -Overall improved vocals/effects

Honestly, how can you listen to the original and this one and NOT notice a difference?

  • @JustinDunwiddie because i just got into these guys over the weekend. you know i can't memorize a song listening to it just a couple times, huh? :P

  • @NoUsernameAssinged

My bad brother! lol. I just thought you were a long time fan and I was like "really???". But yeah man, hope you stay a fan, these guys kick ass!

  • @JustinDunwiddie its okay, im looking forward to whatever new things they do :)

  • @JustinDunwiddie hahahahahahahaha justin youre a faggot

  • @JustinDunwiddie hahahahahahahaha justin youre a faggot

  • @JustinDunwiddie Every track had been re recorded. all vox and all guitars. drums i imagine would have stayed the same or been remastered at most because it is superior drummer. but yea this is an awesome song.

  • @JoeyTheGuitarDude

Yeah I know that. Every single song (minus the Icarus remixes) has significant differences from their older versions. Eureka and Frak the most noticeable.

  • who is the fuckhead that disliked this?

  • "Reaching for a waaaayy-- IVE REACHED FOR A WAY OUT OF THIS!" Goosebumps every time, i kid you not.

  • i think i jizzed all over my self and my laptop....

  • its badass but the oringnal"s the best

  • the lyrics to this are amazing. Spencer's a great lyricist

  • @andymcnCFC I don't think spencer wrote the lyrics.

  • @SomethingOfSig I believe he did! I am aware that there are several periphery songs that he didnt write since he obviously joined the band late but this, and i think all the kinda newish periphery songs were written by him. I could be wrong but I'm sure i read this somewhere

  • @andymcnCFC I know he wrote the lyrics and parts for Captain On, Eureka! and Frak the Gods. I've noticed he sings the parts he's written best live.

  • @SomethingOfSig he did indeed, this was the one song on the album he wrote lyrics for
