My Mum has Complex Partial Seizures every week, more then once too. She's "off" for more then 30mins each time. It sucks and theres nothing anyone can do, including myself.
@looker768 Yes there is(as he said) it's called a simple partial seizure. If any of the 3 listed(awareness, memory, conscious) are affected ie.(loss of memory or repeating the same thing over again and again without noticing) then it would be a complex partial.
I've had Complex partial and tonic clonic/Grand Mal seizures since i was 11yrs old aprox 10-12 per month,29yrs old and doing really well now,I reached surgery on left temporal lobe on July 2010 after 17yrs and done so well post-surgery now,not had any seizures since surgery was done, consultants are very confident i'll never have seizures again
It is beyond my comprehension why these videos about epilepsy don't have the views that mindless music videos do.There are people walking around everyday having seizures and they don't know it because it's not a grand mal. Shame.
Ok someone tell me what this is i am not sure if it is seizures ... just happen like 30 minutes ago but i was taking carts then all of a sudden i got like a shaking spell and fell on the lot then it stop and i got up and told the manger and they let me go home ........... WHAT IS THIS !?
I have had partial seizures since I was 3 years old, last time I remember having one I was 14 years old, now it's been 8 years since then. My seizure had me tired, and I was lost in the moment and my body just fell down and I remember drooling to my right side on a hard stone floor. I had to sleep for 2 hours on a couch, and I had not been able to speak for 2 more hours after that. Thank God for my mom that day. My meds ever since then were put back to normal, and no seizure lately now.
I have the ANS Disease called ( Dysautonomia) and for awhile I thought I have been having anxiety attacks but they get extreme and im hardly afraid of anything except for the feeling I get. I cant think when having one or remember what I was doing before until about an hour later when its gone. Afterwards I get really tire and my body gets numb and I start getting low blood pressure. Is it Partial Aura or something?
I have Complex Partial seizures and had a right temporal lobectomy and 1/2 my Hippocampus removed....but still have these damn things.! ~ I know that I have many automatisms with my spells....but nothing like in the videos ;{ ~ I wish I could find another like me out there....I run...hit + yell help repetitively almost every time...I've even ran into a few busy streets before my surgery! lol....sux! ~ Very embarrassing! ~ does anyone have spells like mine?? + what do other do during them?? thanx
Okayy.... now i know im not alone with epilepsy, i am 13 and i get scared everyday about having a seizure. I am on 8 pills a day and my fits are getting shorter but now-a-days i am getting more fits than i did before i started the tablets but not as serious. anyone wanna suggest why? :)

I was seeing sparks its been 4 years since i had those seizures and i havent tooken my medication for a couple of days cause ive been sick and i had the same type of seizure!
hey i have a question! i use to get partial seizures for 6 years but i've been free for a year though a few nights ago i got 2 seizures in my sleep.. i was dreaming and im my dream i had 2 seizures it was the same experience as the partial seizures i would get in real life. so my question is can i really get seizures in my sleep??? or was it just something else???

I've had 5 simple partial seizures starting at 6yrs old. They manifested as violent full body spasms & the complete inability to speak. I still remember the abject terror due to losing all muscle control. They all occurred while I was waking up & with the exception of the 1st one they all took place the day after a full day of vigorous exercise (swimming, skiing, hiking etc) . However, I didn't always have one after exercise, only on a few occasions. My last one happened when I was 11 (30 now).
meds will destroy your body. It's simply "Jinn possession". Spirits/Devils taking control and toying around in Human beings. In the Quran it mentions about Jinns. Surah Al-Jinn. They are unseen as well as the Angels. But they will be seen on the Day of Judgement. The only cure for this issue is Religion. The belief in one God and the messengers. If you believe in Trinity then your out of luck. I have a good book that explains everything religiously about epilepsy, "The Jinn & Human Sickness".
@TruthIsproof07 Really? Is Religion the only way to cure seizures? I would have appreciated if anyone had come to me with this information before I busted my as s 6 years through med school, learning about these evil demon meds!!! now it's too late though... :(
@TruthIsproof07 Then why did mine stop when I was 11? Not that this has any causal relationship at all, but that's also happens to be about the time when I was sure I was an atheist. That seems to be the complete opposite of religion, specifically Islam don't you think? I haven't had a single seizure in almost 20 years.
@DeliriousGoomba You're absolutely right. Being an atheist didn't have anything to do with my seizures stopping, but I made that point perfectly clear when I said:
"Not that this has any causal relationship at all...but...I [am] an atheist."
What I meant was that because I'm an atheist and I have no religion, clearly TruthIsproof07's claim that:
"The only cure for this issue is Religion"
is false. I don't know what actually caused me to grow out of it but I do know what didn't, religion.
WOW! My GRAN MAL seizures are able to be controled with medication.(before medication I lost all body controll and memory) When the ambulance took me out of my house I saw three kids who where mine and I did not know thry where my kids I have two other types of seizures. One is what I call PASSING out for a second.(I can feel when these are coming on and I RUN to the bed) The other one is where I see flashbacks of things that (at the time during the seizure) feel like I have here been there befo
i had epilepsy... and now i'm ok... so everyone says.. but it seems not.. i see those things on 1:45 ever since i got sick... i don't wish ANYONE this..
ive had t i a symptoms with vision loss but all the test say no stroke 3 years of dr.s and still no answer checked for ms inflamed optic nerve , used to crack my neck a lot b4 i had the attack i didnt shake tho .. i gat flashing lights spinning lights floaters right after , then i would sleep all the next day ,,im so tired of trying to figure it out
ive had epilepsy for 11 years and had the surgery but its been 2 years and latley ive been getting the aura but no seizure. it realy scares me because i went through so much and thought my life was on track but now im paranoid with this constant aura. ive been telling my doc to get my lamictal back but because hes the doc who went to school he never listened to me and ignored it.
@AshyL17 I found out it was "Sleep Paralysis" Check that out on google or youtube! It's crazy! It happens when you suddenly change your sleep habits, or are stressed out etc.. It's so crazy! Anyone can get it.. I stopped getting them.
I have Seizures and i passout about 5 times aday, but know one knows why. when i have a seizure and the monator it nothing shows up , but you can clearly see that im having one.. at first everyone (family and doctors) thought i was fakeing
you ass, when you have seizures it messes up the brain and can cause someone to have improper spelling! ive had the surgery and that was my fallback. i was a math wiz until my seizures now my spelling is bad after the surgery but hey-less seizures than before.
I have seizures and am not epileptic. I have a brain tumor. Anaplastic Oligodendrglioma. Don't assume that a person has epilepsy if they are having seizures.
I've had dibilitating spells for years and docs kept labelling me as depressed and anxious. In the end I paid for a private MRI scan and they found a tumor in my Temporal lobe. You'd think they'd take me seriously now, but nope!
those docs never listen because they feel that because they went to school with the proper education they know everything and dont listen to their patients just because-oh you have a freekin degree so your automatically right? but good thing you had that and hope you found the proper help with concern. : )
my exboyfriend has simple partial seizures and its really hard on him ive actually saved him from drowning in the bath tub beause he went into a seizure and went unconscious... i feel for anyone who has seizures.
Smack lips? oh just stare blankly? yep, that's definetely me and with that two seizures in two days... but I do know I put too much pressure into myself.
i just had a seizure on wednesday. i was in the hospital for over 24 hours. i had all of the symptoms of a seizure. they ran tons of test on me, but they didn't find the cause of the seizure. it was VERY scary, but i'm fine now:)
god? we are god´s joke! somewhere between life and death, always prepared to fall. left to all mortal accidents... i was healed, so was said... and now... it´s much much worse... god hates us all
give it a rest and quit blaming Jehovah for the fact that man has DEMANDED the right to live without him..what we suffer we have brought upon ourselves..in fact, when is the last time you ever heard someone say, "I sure wish Satan would take a break for a while?"..NNNnnoooo, always blame God because he won't immediately save our sad asses from the very things we've wrought upon ourselves and others..take a second and REALLY ponder what I've said..then ask for forgiveness..God is NOT to blame..
Excellent video... thank you so much. Still trying to get a firm diagnosis after three years... I'm atypical so, it's not been easy... but I believe with all of my heart God has me on a path to healing... my brain just needs to catch up.
I have both complex and simple partials. But I remember what happens when I have a complex. Not when I'm having the seizure, I mean, if I think about it hard enough I can remember but It's very weird. All I know, is that whenever I have them, they're scary. I get extremely paranoid, don't know who people are or where I'm at. Bah! I HATE STRESS!! [that, coupled with sleep deprivation is what sets me off]
I was wondering if you could maybe explain what happened to me. Yours seem to be the closest to what I experienced in January. Before I explain, I am now in recovery for drug addiction! Thank God! Im bi polar and STILL take Topomax as a mood stabilizer and for migraines, but I was coming off of opiates cold turkey and drinking one night and taking my prescribed klonopin (nope-wait I had abused it and was in w/drawal-geeze!) and taking my Adderall XR, talk about STUPID! I tried to sleep cont
and of course COULD NOT, but after taking benadryl, I went in to a light sleep. I awoke to leg twitching, then hard jerking, I could not open my eyes, I felt panicked, then I had a full on panic attack-then a weird-I know this part sounds crazy! I felt like something evil was on top of me and in the room, my body felt paralyzed. I was aware of everything. Then I felt the WORST Migraine I have ever felt-Mind Crushing, then it passed and I felt Euphoria and a feeling of almost leaving my body.
Hmm, well I'm sure that to most people, whom are religious that would sound like a possession. I myself am not personally religious so I'll tell you what I think it could be. Your body was put under way too much stress. Due to the lack of sleep and then to the coming off of drugs. The first time that I ever had a seizure, I was smoking pot, for the first time in my life. That started my epilepsy. So, you may have had a partial seizure due to the drug abuse.
I have had partial complex seizures my whole life and I just got off Topamax. I also take Klonopin. I know with both of those drugs you have to be very careful mixing any type of other stimulants or anything else with them because it can throw your body out of whack!! Also a few things that set off my seizures are alcohol, lack of sleep, and stress. I would see a doctor (neurologist) if your symptoms continue. :)
My name is Bridget I have a daughter with complex partial epilepsy. I am in nj gathering documents from former drs and teachers ocala fl ;; shadyhill elem. school is saying shes depressed. she was seen and diagnosed by dr. goodman from voorhees nj, in my opinion ,the state of Fl. has made a mistake, my daughter is part of the foundation they cant help her Ive called begging for help!! Is it only me who sees these!
my daughter courtney porch was diagnosed in N.J. by a great dr. from dupont Delaware, I move to Ocala FL. she attends shadyhill elem. they dont think she has epilepsy. Since the move to Fl. shes been taken away from me by the state, not seen by proper drs. , and they want to stop her meds. I never, ignored my childs complex partial seizures. drs and teachers in fl cant see them. The family she is staying with katrina fishbrough, from ocala fl. wont let me talk with my daughter. EDUCATE them!!!!
tylersgirl--my heart goes out to u--i pray to God that u get ur girl back-who better than her mom? y cant ppl see the truth??moving the baby away from her biological mother is in itself physcologically stressful-mebe thats y the seizures have not stopped--get her back asap
my doc thinks i have a torn retina from a recent head injury but im thinking i my have partial focal seizures since i can recall jerking my head several times and my friend was trying to talk to me but i dont remember hearing him saying anything till my vision was better and i could relax. guess its time to bring it up at my next appointment.
Anyone else besides me have both complex partials and simple partials that occur frequently, nearly nonstop, throughout the day (I call them my "bad days" when it happens)? I remember it mystifying my doctors when I was little cause they always lasted so darn long.
I started suffering with Complex Partial Seizures when I was 11. I'm 20 now and I'm still having seizures, despite having a Temporal Lobectomy. I've been offered a second operation, but at the moment I'm just sticking to medication, despite after 10 years them still not being able to find anything to control the seizures.
1. Why are people losing their jobs, health insurance, Cars, driver license homes & families for Epilepsy?
2. Why are Epilepsy victims constantly forced to pay Ambulance, Energency room Doctor's visit & mediactions, they never asked for but "ORDERED" to have?
3. Why are Epilepsy victims NOT qualified for Medical?
Epilepsy has been around for thousands of years. One way or another, the world knows about Epilepsy, already.
What's needed is not just plain simple awareness. What's needed is every day practical TREATMENT & SUPPORT system. After all, if the government can afford to finance Alcoholics & Narcotics Anonymous to baby sit drug & alcohol addicts, why wouldn't the government SUPPORT treating Epilepsy victims?
That is why I formed The Holden Foundation. I viewed all of these videos and actually there is great clinical info. There is a failure past that. One statement ,"that seizures do not damage the brain" is a flat lie. We have had experience with people dying, losing sight, losing their voice, etc.. The Doctors lie and misinform their patients I know this so well as my own experience dealing with my son. I am action and will be known.
Holden, I understand your frustration with Epilepsy, hospitals & Doctors but I DISAGREE with you that Doctors DELIBERATELY & INTENTIONALLY "lie and misinform their patients". As everything in life, there are GOOD & BAD Doctors, who may misdiagnosis their patients. I sympathize with your son's struggle against Epilepsy for I LIVE IT EVERY DAY.
While you MADE many good points in pointing out that, "people dying, losing sight, losing their voice, etc.." because of epilepsy, the common traditional believe is that OVER ALL, "seizures do not damage the brain". Simple example, there are millions of people who were born with Epilepsy, raised families & happily lived to be in the 80s & 90s.
The fact remains that many people come to the Foundation because they are scared and confused. There is too much of a consensus that seizures are benign and harmless. I already know of people who have died in the last year alone that was told it was "no big deal" SUDEP is NOT talked about even on these videos and the risks of having the event. I was never told about it. And so is 99% of the people I talk to that have epilepsy. If that is not lying to patients I don't know what is.
Holden, YES, You are right people die from seizures, just like they die from cancer. But others live to be old age with seizures. HOW'S SOME DIE & OTHERS LIVE TO BE OLD WITH SEIZURES? Do Doctors have definite answers? NO! Are you sure all Doctors have the same level of professional skill & dedication? NO, just like all other human professions, many are good, some are bad. But, when you say Doctors, "lie and misinform their patients", you are "ACCUSING & GENERALIZING" all Doctors. I DISAGREE!
Dear Dr. Fisher and all of your co-workers at Stanford University Hospital, Thank you for helping me learn on how to face, admit, accept, cope and live with my seizures.
Your great services for the well being of all human beings will continue to eternally benefit humanity and save millions of lives who have been taken hostage to the agony, nightmare and misery of being destroyed by Epilepsy and other Neurological adversities.
What about trouble speaking? My neurologist told me I have complex partials because I sometimes have trouble speaking or writing WORDS. I know what I want to say or write but I can't form the language correctly?
Same for me, after a partial seizure I find difficulty speaking and forming words. It only lasts about a minute or two. It doesn't mean that a person is stupid, far from it - otherwise how did I get a degree in English?
i get those sometimes, my bad ones are when i go absolutely nuts, ive been arrested over 13 times because of epilepsy, i also can get a feeling of deja vu then jsut faint, no twitching or nothing, people say i look like im jsut asleep, but i loose memory and get really confused
..the best test to determine if you are have a seizure is probably an EEG..this can 'persuade' the brain into a seizure while in the safety of a hospital..cracking your head that hard might also cause post concussion syndrome..don't "ask" your doctor to test you.."TELL" him!!..it's your body and it's YOUR RIGHT TO KNOW!!..don't take his shit..
Just like you are witnessing the epileptic seizure on this video, I learned the hard way from my own family and friends, it's a life time haunting trauma and agony to see your loved ones being struck with seizures. Seizures destroy families. Too bad, there's NOT much that could be done to help the patient or the family. All that "help" advertised by "caring foundations and agencies" is nothing more than empty promises and bureaucratic circus. It's heart breaking, we are on our own. Good luck.
I ignored, denied and desperately tried to cover up my seizures. But angry and frustrated at waking up in emergency rooms, I use to jump out of Ambulances until I started falling in to deep sleep in ICU and was hooked to MRI and EEG machine. Finlay, they traced my seizures and I'm waiting for brain surgery after years of every thing frustrating under the sun.
My Mum has Complex Partial Seizures every week, more then once too. She's "off" for more then 30mins each time. It sucks and theres nothing anyone can do, including myself.

One is what I call PASSING out for a second.(I can feel when these are coming on and I RUN to the bed) The other one is where I see flashbacks of things that (at the time during the seizure) feel like I have here been there befo

EPILEPSY.
Very common.
EEG/MRI tests not always the whole story.
Dejavu,gulping,dream-like state, no memory for like a minute.
Tegretol/carbamazapine.
PLEASE SEE A NEUROLOGIST
You have the power to get a diagnosis beyond a family physician as depression, schizo, etc.
Complex partial seizures are often mistaken for those.
Likely can be controlled,15 years of searching for answers and now mine are!
Temporal lobe may not show up on tests and has to be diagnosed by a neurologist.

you ass, when you have seizures it messes up the brain and can cause someone to have improper spelling! ive had the surgery and that was my fallback. i was a math wiz until my seizures now my spelling is bad after the surgery but hey-less seizures than before.

I have seizures and am not epileptic. I have a brain tumor. Anaplastic Oligodendrglioma. Don't assume that a person has epilepsy if they are having seizures.
nezpercenathan 2 years ago
I've had dibilitating spells for years and docs kept labelling me as depressed and anxious. In the end I paid for a private MRI scan and they found a tumor in my Temporal lobe. You'd think they'd take me seriously now, but nope!

I tried to sleep cont
christmas1971 2 years ago
and of course COULD NOT, but after taking benadryl, I went in to a light sleep. I awoke to leg twitching, then hard jerking, I could not open my eyes, I felt panicked, then I had a full on panic attack-then a weird-I know this part sounds crazy! I felt like something evil was on top of me and in the room, my body felt paralyzed. I was aware of everything. Then I felt the WORST Migraine I have ever felt-Mind Crushing, then it passed and I felt Euphoria and a feeling of almost leaving my body.
christmas1971 2 years ago

Holden,
Have you ever tried asking your Senator,
4. What's the safty net for Epilepsy victims?
MySeizures 3 years ago 5
Epilepsy has been around for thousands of years. One way or another, the world knows about Epilepsy, already.
What's needed is not just plain simple awareness. What's needed is every day practical TREATMENT & SUPPORT system. After all, if the government can afford to finance Alcoholics & Narcotics Anonymous to baby sit drug & alcohol addicts, why wouldn't the government SUPPORT treating Epilepsy victims?
Shedding tears in dark shadows needs to be over.
ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS.

I am action and will be known.
seizuremasteralaska 3 years ago
Holden, I understand your frustration with Epilepsy, hospitals & Doctors but I DISAGREE with you that Doctors DELIBERATELY & INTENTIONALLY "lie and misinform their patients". As everything in life, there are GOOD & BAD Doctors, who may misdiagnosis their patients. I sympathize with your son's struggle against Epilepsy for I LIVE IT EVERY DAY.
With my prayers, I wish you the best.
MySeizures 3 years ago
Holden,
While you MADE many good points in pointing out that, "people dying, losing sight, losing their voice, etc.." because of epilepsy, the common traditional believe is that OVER ALL, "seizures do not damage the brain". Simple example, there are millions of people who were born with Epilepsy, raised families & happily lived to be in the 80s & 90s.
MySeizures 3 years ago
The fact remains that many people come to the Foundation because they are scared and confused. There is too much of a consensus that seizures are benign and harmless. I already know of people who have died in the last year alone that was told it was "no big deal" SUDEP is NOT talked about even on these videos and the risks of having the event. I was never told about it. And so is 99% of the people I talk to that have epilepsy. If that is not lying to patients I don't know what is.
seizuremasteralaska 3 years ago

Wishing you success in your divine mission.

..the best test to determine if you are have a seizure is probably an EEG..this can 'persuade' the brain into a seizure while in the safety of a hospital..cracking your head that hard might also cause post concussion syndrome..don't "ask" your doctor to test you.."TELL" him!!..it's your body and it's YOUR RIGHT TO KNOW!!..don't take his shit..

i maybe having seizures for the first time.
i had fallen down a flight of stairs a yr ago and struck my head and had a concussion.
i am experiencing staring, eyes kinda rolled up and motionless for about 20sec,to 10 minutes.
sometimes my eyes start blinking and my lips and part of the face start to twitch.
how can i convince my dr that i maybe sufferring from seizures, and to get him to order a test to see if i am actually having a seizure.

Tell the doctor what's happening and if he/she doesn't take you seriously, you should find another doctor! (Seriously...)
1Th1617 4 years ago
Just like you are witnessing the epileptic seizure on this video, I learned the hard way from my own family and friends, it's a life time haunting trauma and agony to see your loved ones being struck with seizures. Seizures destroy families. Too bad, there's NOT much that could be done to help the patient or the family. All that "help" advertised by "caring foundations and agencies" is nothing more than empty promises and bureaucratic circus. It's heart breaking, we are on our own. Good luck.

BE PREPARED, IT'S GOING TO BE FRUSTRATING.
I wish you the best.
