for the parachute, I don't really know. they're testing the armor so...battle stimulations, etc. yadda yadda yadda

@mrhalohorns Easy...a modified cargo drop parachute. Plus, all it had to do was slow down the Spartan until they could cut loose at the right altitude and the armor would take care of the rest.

In the graphic novel, the Spartan (Maria) was testing the armor in a training exersise and the ODST's are a part of the exersise. Although they were fighting against her and using unorthadox tactics, they are all friends (somewhat). Just buy the novel, its well worth the money.

No, the ODST's are apart of the armor testing program. The spartan is being tested for their ability to safely land after an orbital jump while retaining their ability to fight. The video doesn't show it, but in the novel they are all firing paint ball rounds.
