what a piece of genius. their next album better be the bomb cos these and elbow have almost single handedly held up my music listening habits for the last 4 years or so. mint.
I absolutely love this! Ce Ce Peniston is one of my fave singers ever and this song totally rocks, like a whole different song and yet so familiar! Great cover! Thanks for posting this!!!! xx
Hmm, never really noticed that similarity before. Going to the RNCM in July myself. Can't wait. The first time I saw him it was supporting Stephen Fretwell there and it was amazing. Such great acoustics and it really suited their sound. You're in for a treat.
dansandman - cool! Thanks for that, I'm really looking forward to it - and Glastonbury set. I'll be wearing the Dave Matthews Band t-shirt:-) do a search and listen to "the space between" and compare it to "people".
I actually know DMB well, quite a fan. I do see your point, just not noticed it before. I always thought they had a Ryan Adams/Cardinals feel about them.
I don't think it will be. Not sure they like playing it all that much. A little after this was recorded i saw them at the D:percussion festival in manchester, which was their last show before heading into the studio to record the album, and, before playing this, simon said "this is the last ever time we're going to play this". Although i have heard they've played it on the recent tour i get the feeling they were looking forward to retiring it. So probably not an album track, but a B-side maybe?
I'm a huge "CeCe Peniston" fan and even though this group (Cherry Ghost) isn't really my style of music I can still appreciate the quality of this cover.....I'm sure CeCe would be proud. Keep up the good work.
Fucking. Immense. His voice is crazy.

Breathtaking. Hit the nail on the head "starkitten1", adds another dimension to an otherwise cheesey pop record.

Fucking awsome, wish i'd been there!

Superb! What an amazing voice...he really adds depth to what is ultimately a cheesy pop song.

Did you hear the cover Simon did of My Chemical Romance's 'Welcome to the Black Parade'? It was a gazillion times better then the original!!!!
mehrinho 4 years ago
Absolutely it was - not fan of My Chemical Romance, but Cherry Ghost gave the song real depth.

Great band - definitely a Dave Matthews feel about his voice/guitar/sound. Going to see him in Manchester in July :-)

Will this track be on the forthcoming album?? I really love it but it doesn't seem to be on the official album track list.

Thanks for replying. Its a shame they don't like it much, but I'll look out for it on any B sides.
