I guess to be fair, this interview did revolve around an album titled Memory Almost Full which included a funeral song so, as tacky she was, perhaps McFadden thought it open to discuss his age and death. However, the Yoko question was plain asinine. What answer did she expect? He still has to work with Yoko over Beatles songs. I think Paul was genuinely pissed, I'd never seen him react that way before "let go of my hand...please, somebody"- as the voice-over covered the rest.
@TheDiddlysquat Paul has already answered many of those questions. He discussed the condom story in the Anthology. He made it clear that they always preferred Ringo' drumming, but couldn't get him until they had a recording contract. Howard Stern asked Paul about Brian and John - Paul said that he doubted anything happened since John was every bit as heterosexual as he (Paul) was, and he'd been with John when John was "roaring drunk". And never saw any hint of homosexuality from John.
Have to stop and Think ;The Life, He has led,The enormity of Content and the sheer Achievements ,That keep Coming through. It's, a Rare one for sure and it 's just not Something thats common at all.. He and The Beatles gave the World an optimism in a Time , that was Perfect for it Happen...
@claudia89beatles No it really doesn't. It means he is angry she even dared ask such a stupid question. You just want it to mean yes and are seeing what isn't there. Why do you think he asks her to let go of his hand right after so angrily? Because he is clearly outraged she asked him such a dumbass question. Yoko Ono didn't split the Beatles, the Beatles splt the Beatles, end of.
i would absolutely LOVE to see Sir Paul interviewed by someone who knows their business like Charlie Rose, for example. i mean...here's the living half of what's generally considered to be the greatest song-writing team in history..one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century...part of the greatest band that ever played together...and these are the best questions they could come up with?
WTF? should have tossed in what's your favorite color to really make it sing.
Wow, terrible interviewer. I think she just got a little star struck when she shook his hand but I think if she'd had not let go when she did, I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty. I know he'll probably never read this, but Paul, I give you loads of respect for not losing your cool with her, I know I would have
You have to love this man. He's got class and maintains his cool when pressed with questions about his painful divorce and mother's death. He's also a very funny man. Love him!
Wow...this interviewer is horrible... shes so cold hearted bringing up all his loved ones death...and the divorce, plus making him think about him dieing with his daughter still young this is horrible i feel bad for him.
worst interview ever. how did this lady get this gig. thousands of reporters would die for this chance and she ruins it by being completely condensending with her attitude and her questions. i havent seen her around so i hope she lost her job and i hope it was because of this interview and i hope it was because of paul making a comment about how smug this slut is
Plus, I'd money that a media pro like Macca would have communicated in advance topics he didn't want to discuss- including (likely) one Heather Mills!
Anyone who's done their homework would know that Macca doesn't like to discuss heavy subjects outside of his comfort zone. He will answer with a flippant anecdote or response and try to politely change the subject.
Interview goes south from here, I'd say. I'd wager she knew not to bring this up...
@baddrills Its not sarcastic as if to say she did split them though, he is just really pissed off that the interviewer was retarded enough to actually ask him that question. That's why he asks her to let go of his hand, because he is very very angry she asked him that. Paul is a smart man and I doubt he blames anyone but the Beatles themselves for the split.
Ok, was it just me, or was the interviewer basically implying "You are old now Paul, so your daughter Beatrice will still be really young when you die, are you ok with that?" How terrible!
Sunrise, I agree with you. But for people like Paul with lots of money, it's really hard to put your faith into something that's not as tangible as this physical world. Easier to put your faith in yourself and your money than someone higher and on a spiritual level. God bless him. I hope he comes around.
What a great interview ... I hope to meet that great man St.Paul McCartney one day. Thanks for such a wonderful video and to Paul thanks for all the great music!
mmmwah & hugz Paulie ....oh solie meo! pardon the mispelling. When he said...."Now I just ball....oooh God...I can't think of him being gone...at least not before I have a chance just once to hug him & maybe a pic!
It looked like he was upset. I was wondering how much more he would take of those question. She is younger so she ignorant. She acted like a crazed Fan.
Man, If I had the opportunity to sit this man down and talk with him, I'd make CERTAIN that I didn't ask him the same tripe he's heard over and over again: "Hey, um, remember when you were in the Beatles?" "Do you miss John? Was that sad?" "Hey! Let's talk about your divorce! Bet you'd love to talk about that!" .....GOD. This is Paul McF.uckingCartney, people!
@scandalouzmegz I agree with you, but this is what The Beatles Carry the Weight is about. The going-solo Beatles knew they would have to carry the weight of being in the Beatles for the rest of their life.
at 4:18 he asked her if she understood. What a completely perfect answer. Who are they (the media) to pry into personal things! Paul, you are a remarkable person!
She was sort of poking him with a stick with those age references, wasn't she? But he's well aware of it - and thankfully, doesn't let it faze him too much. When he called himself a "pensioner" I went, oohh... but yeah, he's up there. Paul is just the best.....
this made me cry. The song he wrote about how we wanted to be remembered got me tearing up. And just him saying how he wants to be around to watch his little daughter grow up. And I don't know. I'm just very emotional when it comes to things like that.
He's the greatest! All those classic Beatles hits, all those classic Wing's hits, all those classic solo hit's.... his "all the best!" CD is one of the best greatest hits albums ever issued!
God bless, lady, can you possibly pick some more sensitive topics to touch on and make him uncomfortable? I mean, I'm sitting here listening to this and you're making ME uncomfortable!
His new music is pure treacle, but everyone will always love Paul McCartney, even with the weird reddish-cast dye job he insists on sporting.
It is so unfortunate about that whole Heather Mills debacle. I bet he wishes to God he would have made her sign a prenuptual agreement. What a big mistake on the part of a lonely widower. It's really sad.
Cynthia is a retard for asking that 'Yoko' question, the way she did. His humor never was as witty as John's, but Paul never took a witty route. I love his openness and and frankness. He never will be a type of guy who was, or will be caught with any serious lies. Heather will eventually write a book, and it will sell. Unfortunately, what's behind closed doors should always remain there.
MILLIONS of people give a shit! This man changed the course of music for all the generations to come!! Rock and roll would NOT be what it was without the Beatles. Paul is still cranking out "out of the ordinary" music (how brave); and that music ends up in the #3 spot?? WOW!! Absolutely incredible at ANY age, let alone "65"!
I believe in that too. There are a lot of Paul bashers who have gone too far as "slit his throat from ear to ear". Something like that isn't funny anymore. That's why there's nothing funny about what you posted and I'm not saying you're Paul basher
LOL. I know JPM thinks this is not nice what you wrote, but it is funny!! Me thinks JPM protests too much. Perhaps, JPM doesn't really you were making a humorous reference to the whole "Paul is dead" rumor during the late 1960's. Anyway, I thought your comment was so funny.
this interviewer sucks- theres a part where she implied he was prolly gonna die before Beatrice grows, she mentions how he lost his mother and how LInda died...way to kick the man when he's already had a bad year-AND keeps trying to be sexy around him---and yet, the Paul is cool about it....lovely
no, no...WAY at the end..when he´s chatting with them standing up..i know its NOT, but for a second it does look like he has one in his hand..( 9:25/25)
I think its just his finger with a bit more lighting
I feel for Paul. I love that he excersized his right to decline comment on his divorce. He had a beautiful wife who stood by his side for decades and tragicly she passed. then he found some one who loved his money and exploided him. Living in the public eye with something like this is something i would hate to deal with.
god bless Paul and his beautiful family. Hope to hear more from him soon.

Some of his songs for the past 20 years are as you say. A few aren't. But then look at the entire music scene today; treacle is putting it mildly. Most popular music today I would rate as 'bilge.'
I love Paul McCartney, I still pay Beatle music every day ... but it is not until you get to hear things like this that you get to experience just a bit, a tiny part, of the real man .... I like him very much too!!! Far more to Sir Paul than to many other celebs!
I listened to the interview you, Mr. McCartney, gave speaking about Chico Mendes. Environmental issues still needs a voice... I live in Rio and I teach at PUC-RIO. I wrote books and I gave interviews to Newspapers. International interests are strong... I am Alice, Sociology's Professor, and I need just a few words..."Leave Amazon alone! Let it live!" Maybe you can help! Thank you! Alice
Wow, Paul lost his mom when he was 14. John lost his mom when he was young. Maybe some of there music was healing to them and in turn healing for the rest of us that needed to hear it. Real Love
I love how he's the one who doesn't let go, he did that trick a couple of times :P

Of course it's not a sad song about death...
He's been dead since '66
That's longer than I've been alive.
He's used to death by now,
'aint ya Billy?

You take this stuff too seriously dude.
Did you even notice that I have The Beatles on my list of favorite music.
I'm subscribed to any Beatles stuff that is uploaded.
My favorite Beatles song is Within You & Without You
my fav mainstream Beatles song is Hey Jude, a song by Paul.
I only recently started looking at the whole Paul is Dead thing and I think it's amusing.
lyrialzander 4 years ago 3
Next time don't post anything like that again. There's nothing funny about it. Really
JPM4Ever 4 years ago
Well unfortunately I believe in FREE SPEECH
so you may possibly be insulted by something I say in a video or post as a comment again.
My advice is to relax, and not take this to seriously.

It's really sad.
chamarka7 4 years ago
Some of his songs for the past 20 years are as you say. A few aren't. But then look at the entire music scene today; treacle is putting it mildly. Most popular music today I would rate as 'bilge.'

Paul is God.
And who are you?????

I love Paul McCartney, I still pay Beatle music every day ... but it is not until you get to hear things like this that you get to experience just a bit, a tiny part, of the real man .... I like him very much too!!! Far more to Sir Paul than to many other celebs!

HI!
Thank you! Alice
