If your using windows go to start menu computer then click on the disc and it should auto run.

I've been struggling to get gta4 running. I have a mbp 2.8ghz 4gig ram running vmware fusion 3 with windows 7. Everytime I start the game it says I need to install/reinstall directx or to check my drivers.

Okay there is probably the reasons one you don't have directx or two it may be vm fusion I have vm fusion, but just for some low requirement applications, I suggest using bootcamp if you have one and don't have just a vm partition. Tell me how it runs on bootcamp, because I use bootcamp with windows 7 and I just have a mb with 2.0Ghz and 2gb ram and it runs fine. (also I have a nVidia Geforce 9400m)

Well ummm if you have a mac pro desktop computer or a really powerful mac you should be able to run. It will run on a new mac or macbook on windows (bootcamp).
