That boy can act! The little things that he does in this scene shows his natural ability to mimic emotions on his face and in his pattern of speech.

Notice how his eyes blinks quickly to show surprise at her question. What a greatly underrated actor James is.

I would not be at all surprised to find that Spader studied some of Hopkins as Lecter (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) for this role; agreed? His phrasing of 'I'd really like to get to know you better in privacy' -- the running-on, intensity of his gaze.

Though out years later, watch how Hopkins says 'Will' in RED DRAGON. Spader's cadence of the word is nearly identical here. Beautifully done. Very chilling.
