I must be over looking something. When I use this software I only get the option to save it as a .obj file. Is there something to click on to get the option of how you wish to save this?
@RodneySTR I have plans to do some soon, but for other tools. The thing is, my screencast software (Screenflow) has some issues and their tech support is abysmal. I'm looking into alternatives. Thanks for the vote of confidence!
WoW!! this is the easiest to follow tutorial I've ever seen!! I made my first rock and there will be many more to come ... since I'm a terraformer/landscaper in SL :))
Thanks much!! Hoping you come up with more tutorial like this for other objects ... as always the less prims used the better it is :-))
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think people fear new tools but they don't have to be hard. I want to make some more for beginners. Torley has done so many that it's hard to avoid duplicates, though, haha. :)
Wow...good to see you back! You're always doing such cool online things, and now 3D design...you rock! (pun fully intended). Look forward to more videos (hint hint) :) Take Care.
Hey! Haven't seen you since I left MySpace! I hope you're doing well. SL is pretty cool.. I started as a hobby and out of an interest in derivative artwork, and now I build corporate sims for a living. Funny, that. I got married and moved overseas, too, so there's some video fodder, ha!
I used to go on SL a lot, but haven't in a long time. Perhaps I'll get on there soon and look you up. Besides, I need to find out where you blogging and such these days. hehe
maybe a road video hmm? for the video revival i mean :) incidentally in the video i posted yesterday i use a program that lets you build animations for SecondLife, though my video was aimed at Daz Studio use
You know, SL has a shortage of mocapped animations and anyone who wanted to go into business there selling them would do exceptionally well for themselves. You should think about it. :) A road video, hm? Well, I live in the UK now and so maybe I'd drive to france? (I mean, when I learn to drive here.)
Hello,Aimee. Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering if I could build up a landform in SL,from off shore of a location? Also, how does this work,in comparison to GMAX,as far as file size?
Nice to BE back! I am feeling a video revival coming on, maybe. Started small. :)
I'm not familiar with GMAX and not entirely sure what you're asking, so I'm sorry if this isn't helpful. But if you're asking if you can create an island in thin air out of rocks like this, the answer is yes. SL's physics engine supports gravity, but by default it's turned off, so you can float prims in the sky easily. If you own land, you can terraform it, too, which is wiser when possible.
Thank you,Aimee. GmAX is a building tool which also works with polys. It is frequently used in Flight sims to create aircraft and other objects. Looking at the description of Sculpy,I see they do not use polygons per se.
I was thinking of using this in SL as a tool to build land,by "walking" off shore from an island, then "stacking " many Sculpy forms till they reach above the surface.
I hope you will do more music like in the past. You are talented
Ah! Well, the mesh in SL is limited and can't support very many facets, so when you use other tools (Say like Maya or Wings3D or ZBrush) you usually have to kind of dumb it down a bit, or it won't render right in SL. But you could absolutely stack sculpties to create land masses, sure. People do it all the time. :)
Thank you so much, this was extremely helpful!

I'm 61 and this was like hearing my grand daughter teach me... and I loved it!
Just the right tone of voice, content and length.
Good job!
