We had several impromtude farmers markets where people with gardens would just showup and sell produce out of the back of their cars and trucks. The state of Arkaksas came in and shut them down. they told everyone that they need a business license with a tax number and they had to pay the sales tax quarterly and in advance. What a shame. Most never came back because the cost is too high. Those that live along a main road now sell from the yards where is it lawful.

Barter is a good way to save on rising expenses, as well as buying used goods. I do it when ever possible. Electrical work traded for masonry, mechanical for carpentry, trading produce for meat, etc. The VAT should be only on goods made over seas, and should be high enough to make overseas production cost prohibitive. If the government did that we could ALL have a job, not just the folks in CHINA. Imagine a tax that would benefit the little guy. You really got me thinking... thanks.
