WOW! 157MPH in the new 'S'.

My 2004 just-a-COOPER only hits 127 but is still plent fast for me. Less weight = better handling... I installed a $3k suspension that makes mine drive better than my friend's Lotus :)

I have got a mini cooper s. My question is why do some cooper s have a speedometer with 240 km/h and some with 260 km/h on it? Mine has got 260 on it.

JCW models have 260 km/h.. Standart S models have 240 km/h speedometer..

@35HK1907 Mine is 2009 and comes with 260 km/h speedometer, why? because the JCW comes with a 260 km/h speeddometer so to make it cheaper they use it for the Cooper S and JCW.

Also my girls mini one has a 260 km/h speedometer.

well, obviously the auto's closer ratios made it a faster top end car. but, i like my manual. =P just got one yesterday. 08 r56 in chili red, white roof/mirrors, pretty much base model, cept nicer wheels, on board comp, union jack on roof, and that's it i think. (base for an S isn't base for other cars.) this car needs none of the other heavy crappy options.

It must be more than a complete turboback..My stock R56 does 240km/h in 6th gear at 6000rpm

I think this car has a complete turboback as i recall from NAM. Look how easy (relatively low rpm's) it does that speed.
