  • @TheRickoff: Really? It's Stan's song... How can he do his own song bad? I must be stoned... Duuuuudddeee

  • St. Pierre and Miquelon, mentioned in the third line of this song, is a self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France, situated in the northwestern Atlantic ocean near Canada. It is the only remnant of the former colonial empire of New France that remains under French control. The islands are situated at the entrance of Fortune Bay, just 20 kilometres off the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland. The Irish Descendants made a great video for Stan Rogers' song, ©1975 Fogarty's Cove Music.

  • Love that one!!

  • Da Best:) Mussell Pond Luvs This song!

  • I absolutely luv this song:)

  • Don't know how many times i've listened to this since you published it, sheer brilliance!

  • The song was great when Stan did it. This is a really terrible video that doesn't even come close to anything I thought of when Stan sang it.

  • @soundmangify: You must have been stoned when you heard Stan. Take a listen to his version on YouTube some time when you are sober. Too fast, and terrible singing. This version by The Irish Descendants is good, and the one by The Garrison Brothers is even better.

  • Dam sounds quit familiar to Louisa Saturday night, borrowed no doubt but I like it.

  • blue bonnie? irish, english, scottman o ye acadian all the same love freedom

  • Don't forget the Acadians came to good old Prince Edward Island too b'ys. I myelf happen to be a decendant of the Island Acadians. Vive l'Acadie!

  • Trinidad light? What's wrong with good ol' Newfie screech?

  • We are not just of french origin, We are a master bastard race, incorporating alot of native american, irish, scot, english, etc....

However, what is important is that French language (all kinds of versions of it) is the main language of that society.

  • The Acadian's came from France in the 1600 and 1700's to Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and New Brunswick as well as the Codroy Valley.

  • avacuppa i am not sure if acadians are french or irish but ain't got to be from somewere to sing about it do you?

  • @Jack43414

Aye,we are french(I've the blood meself, along Scots and Irish)

But,our French is heavily influenced by the English tongue!

    :D

    Slainte!

  • Also, Newfoundland is not really part of Acadia. But still a great song.

  • Irish descendants? I thought Acadians were French?

  • Irish descendants is the name of the band I think

  • Back again-need some musical boost! I'm back now on the scene myself. Barbershop, four-part a capella. Wonder how this song'd go? Oh well, you are unbeatable! Let's Sing, WJ

  • This one of my favorite Stan Rogers tunes and it's a great version. They've changed the chord progression and the melody a bit, but it's very tasty. I especially like the fiddle and squeezebox playing. The only recording I have of it by Stan is on "From Coffeehouse to Concert Hall" and the tempo is insanely fast. I like this pace much better.

  • Nice version of the Stan Rogers Song.

  • Love it!

  • Think I got my birthday song for this year(tomorrow, 5/3)! What can I say? A cajun beat with an Irish accent, a scene like Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and lyrics Jimmy Buffett WISHES he though up:) Not much this song does not have.(Cajun yell here:) I'm subscribed, so keep 'em comin'!WJ

  • Blasted revenue cutters, anyway. Bet Grandpa showed THEM! WJ

  • This is a really good song, Thx for postin it!

  • One of the best songs ever.
