We have a 9-year old staff and although she's fantastic with people and children, she will viciously attack any unfamiliar dog that comes near. She has always been very much the Alpha Female type, that was clear even in her litter, but we went to socialisation classes and initially she was fine.
All seemed well until she had a phantom pregnancy at about 2, then the aggression started. I know everyone says "don't blame the dog, blame the owner" but sometimes biology can beat you.
Eng Staffs have never been dangerous, it's the fact that retarded ass hats are buying American pitbull blood line dogs and registering them as Staffs.
Me and my partner have two staffies a nine year old and a 3 year old then i got pregnant with mine and my partners baby and my staffs are the softest dogs ever! they love the baby and have never attempted to bite him or have never growled at the baby! there the best dogs to have around i think!

There is nothing wrong with staffies i dont think... i think its one of the bestbreed dogs to have.... i have a staff whos nine in july and another one whos just turned three and i have a 15mth old baby and the dogs just adore me and my bofriends baby even though we had the dogs before i got pregnant the dogs are perfect with our 15 mth old son!

Deano is too slim and leggy for a staffy. He should be bred. Hes a nice looking dog and all, but very far from the standard. He is a very nice looking dog though. Looks a lot like my staffy x Ridgeback cross.

I own a 7 month old staffordshire bull terrior. Staffs are the best. I would strongly recommend a staffordshire bull terrior to any one who is looking for a dog. Their great with people and espeacially with kids.
My Molly is a 2 yr old rescuedog.Shes the best.She has NO reason to love either humans or other staffys,coz they have both abused her for a year.But she loves everyone,both humans and staffys.(still has a BIT to go with black staffy girls,since her tormentors were just that.But we will get there:) She has made a whole doggypark change their wiews on staffys,just by beeing the sweetheart that she is:) Love her to pieces:)

They are great dogs. I have a Boston Terrier, a chocolate lab and a beautiful brindle staffy. My staffy has a lovely temperment and believe it or not the Boston is a little horror who thinks she's in charge and bullies the other two even though she is tiny in comparison. My Staffy puts up with all of her nonsense and has never shown a hint of aggression towards her or anyone else.

My dog Buster is 12 year old pedigree staffy and all through his life I have been asked questions about him because people thought he was somthing else. He actually looks abit like the red one in this video. The black one is just like one my brother-in-law owned. Staffy's are beautiflul gentle dogs.

I've talked to loads of people who own Staffordshire bull terriers and other dogs and they all say that they're such nice dogs. People who have a bad opinion of them are just told these things from propaganda from the media. Example: i saw an article saying "number of dog bites increases" the picture was off a staffy. I researched the statistics and west highland terrier had the highest biting percentage! It's things like that that give them a bad name and bad owners.

I have an 11 year old big red boy and he is the best. We got him when he was 9 weeks old. In all that time he has never shown any agressive behaviour or bitten anything or anyone. Buster is scared of cats and moths. We have two boys aged 6 & 4 and they love him to bits and he loves them. He follows them everywhere. I don't know what is going to happen when he passes away, we all will be devestated. Anyway, Staffies are the best dog. Just make sure it is a purebred with papers.

My stafftie, normally chilled, bit his ear, and didn't let go until the alsation began to wimper. My staffie was soft, but could look after himself :-)

I have 2 staffs, they are scrappy dogs and wont back down if challenged by another dog. 200 years of breeding for fighting, you must realize these dogs are capable to do major damage and have a high prey drive. Every personality is different but still you have to respect the breed, even non staffy owners, please keep your dogs on a leash

no I breed to standard, trying reading their standard and my comment. If I saw a staffy getting dominated by another dog, I would think there is something wrong with that staffy.
Well in my opinion, regardless of the breed standard, with all the press the breed is getting there is no way you should be breeding for that trait. Surely it's the responsibility of all breeders to try and bring out the best in the dogs they breed. Why you would want to breed "scrappy dogs" is beyond me. They should not be used for fighting mowadays so why is that trait necessary? Why not breed for a sound temperament in all areas?
zoso1978 is so right theres people on here which may own good staffys with other dogs, BUT they are naturally high prey driven dogs and as much as good with people are (or can be) very unpredictable with dogs, ive only been into a pub tonight and a SBT had a go at my placid boxer non serious but it went my eldest has been attacked twice. I agree respect non staffy owners & appreciate what your breed negatives are. I love boxers but i know my breeds negatives people with staffy seem blind to it

They are gorgeous dogs!! I've got a 7 month old staff and he's amazing! So soft!! A little too soft! He got attacked by a border collie and just cried!!! People need to know that it's the owners that are responsible for who they turn out to be!! I won't ever have another breed! I love staffies!!!!!!!!

I own a 7 month old staffordshire bull terrior. Staffs are the best. I would strongly recommend a staffordshire bull terrior to any one who is looking for a dog. Their great with people and espeacially with kids.

My Molly is a 2 yr old rescuedog.Shes the best.She has NO reason to love either humans or other staffys,coz they have both abused her for a year.But she loves everyone,both humans and staffys.(still has a BIT to go with black staffy girls,since her tormentors were just that.But we will get there:) She has made a whole doggypark change their wiews on staffys,just by beeing the sweetheart that she is:) Love her to pieces:)

I've had 4 pitbulls in my life.All were really good dogs-never bit a person or dog,but my Staffy was the most gentle ,sweetest dog I ever had. Kaiser RIP I loved u girl!! I couldnt have asked for a better dog.She used to shiver and hide in the bathroom during thunderstorms and firealarms (when I burned dinner).Who says they're all mean? You have to be ignorant to utter that blanket statement.

They are great dogs. I have a Boston Terrier, a chocolate lab and a beautiful brindle staffy. My staffy has a lovely temperment and believe it or not the Boston is a little horror who thinks she's in charge and bullies the other two even though she is tiny in comparison. My Staffy puts up with all of her nonsense and has never shown a hint of aggression towards her or anyone else.

Alot of people wouldn't know a proper staffy if they saw one. My dog Buster is 12 year old pedigree staffy and all through his life I have been asked questions about him because people thought he was somthing else. He actually looks abit like the red one in this video. The black one is just like one my brother-in-law owned. Staffy's are beautiflul gentle dogs.

The Staffy is known as the "nanny" dog because of it`s soft and gentle behaviour with children. My Staffy is 8 and spent the last 3 years in rescue until I took him home. He`s amazing..soft, gentle, playful etc.Best breed by far.

I've talked to loads of people who own Staffordshire bull terriers and other dogs and they all say that they're such nice dogs. People who have a bad opinion of them are just told these things from propaganda from the media. Example: i saw an article saying "number of dog bites increases" the picture was off a staffy. I researched the statistics and west highland terrier had the highest biting percentage! It's things like that that give them a bad name and bad owners.

I have an 11 year old big red boy and he is the best. We got him when he was 9 weeks old. In all that time he has never shown any agressive behaviour or bitten anything or anyone. Buster is scared of cats and moths. We have two boys aged 6 & 4 and they love him to bits and he loves them. He follows them everywhere. I don't know what is going to happen when he passes away, we all will be devestated. Anyway, Staffies are the best dog. Just make sure it is a purebred with papers.

I get some people giving me evil looks and some pull their children out of the way when we walk down the street!! When ever there is a dog attack on the news no matter what dog did the crime the picture is always a Stafford. It drives me nuts. I have had afew different dogs over the years, my stafford is the most loving one i have had.

any dog can be violent just like any dog can be a big softy, its all down to the owners and how they raised/trained them, i'm betting even a pitbull could be a good family dog if you know how to treat it, just look at some of ceaser milans (the dog whisperer) pitbulls, they are lovely.

Staffys are an amazing breed of dog. They are called the "nanny dog" for their gentle nature with children. Our dog Bella is amazing and so smart! People need to look beyond the muscle and brawn and see the gentle nature of these wonderful animals.

that's what makes staffies so great. They aren't violent. My old dog got into a fight with an alsation (spelling?) my dog was on a lead, the alsation was roaming. My stafftie, normally chilled, bit his ear, and didn't let go until the alsation began to wimper. My staffie was soft, but could look after himself :-)

Devil dogs? Staffies are lovely natured dogs. The ones that turn savage are usually the ones with horrible owners that whack them and teach them to go after people and other dogs. It drives them nuts.
Treat them well and they grow up to be big, harmless softies. Mine wouldn't hurt a fly.

people staffs, pits, bull terriers, etc., are capable of damage as any dog is BUT these dogs we're bred to battle so when they go off they go off harder than most other dogs. A true staff would never attack it's owner, a child etc. Th were bred to people people affectionate b/c you wldnt handle an injured dog in the pit and get bit

please keep your dogs on a leash. I have 2 staffs, they are scrappy dogs and wont back down if challenged by another dog. 200 years of breeding for fighting, you must realize these dogs are capable to do major damage and have a high prey drive. Every personality is different but still you have to respect the breed, even non staffy owners, please keep your dogs on a leash

You must have done something wrong then, because my Staffie (who has passed away now) was always allowed off lead - she once got attacked by a Weimeraner and did not retaliate at all, in fact once it stopped biting her she wanted to play.

Well in my opinion, regardless of the breed standard, with all the press the breed is getting there is no way you should be breeding for that trait. Surely it's the responsibility of all breeders to try and bring out the best in the dogs they breed. Why you would want to breed "scrappy dogs" is beyond me. They should not be used for fighting mowadays so why is that trait necessary? Why not breed for a sound temperament in all areas?

zoso1978 is so right theres people on here which may own good staffys with other dogs, BUT they are naturally high prey driven dogs and as much as good with people are (or can be) very unpredictable with dogs, ive only been into a pub tonight and a SBT had a go at my placid boxer non serious but it went my eldest has been attacked twice. I agree respect non staffy owners & appreciate what your breed negatives are. I love boxers but i know my breeds negatives people with staffy seem blind to it
