I love this production. I'm no Shakespearean scholar, but it seems to me that Shakespeare is almost always overacted. With the passing years, the dialogue has become clearer (that's Elizabethan English for you), but the acting usually detracts. Not so in this production. The thing that really sucks is that a region 1 DVD of this costs like $60. You can get it in the UK for about $15. Talk about unfair!

@atimholt I agree. Jacobi gave a great performance, Gibson did a great job, and Branagh kinda overacted Hamlet.

BBC's theatrical Hamlet is my favourite rendition of this drama and believe me I've seen quite many. Excellently directed plus very well played. Sir Derek Jacobi as Hamlet is marvellous. Thanks for posting this fantastic tribute video.

@Sanderus Thank you so much for what you didn't say: That Jacobi's Hamlet was the BEST HAMLET EVER!!! I am so sick of hearing that. "Jacobi's Hamlet is the best I've ever seen", or "Jacobi's Hamlet is my favorite..." Unfortunately, most YouTubers don't know there was life before TV and the computer. They know little about Shakespeare and Elizabethan times.
