I'm brown skinned. Though still fair among the browns (I'm Asian decent), but always envy those who is fair. Then I heard that brown skinned has less chance of skin cancer as compared to fair skin, because our skin is protected to the layers of melanin, or something. Well, ain't that a relieve?

This is helpful information but it would be more helpful if it discussed ways to mitigate the hyperpigmentation that comes with the healing of injuries. For example, how does moisture (i.e. from petrolatum, butter, honey or olive oil) help in reducing the occurence of hyperpigmentation.
