What's amazing about it is not just the music, but the community around it. There are are vocaloid songs from every different genre of music because thousands of people use the software. Tons of artists, writers and musicians play a part in creating the music and videos, it's made by the fans, for the fans, unlike K-pop for example, which is a very controlled industry. If you don't like the sound of Rin, go for GUMI or Luka, or one of the endless fan covers sung by humans. :)

This isn't an anime, it's an orgininal song made by Toraboruta-P for VOCALOID Kagamine Rin. Vocaloid is a singing synthesiser program that allows users create music using the Vocaloid "voice", each of which comes in a seperate package. Kagamine Rin and Len are two such voices. Others you may of heard of include the ever popular Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, KAITO, MEIKO, Kamui Gakupo, GUMI, Lily, Hiyama Kiyoteru, VY1 Mizki, VY2 Yuma... I should probably stop there. :P

Len is lonely and decides to make a robot. She can sing beautifully, but doesn't understand true emotions. So Len makes a program called 'Kokoro' (Japanese for heart) but discovers its too much for her system. Hundreds of years pass and she is the only one left, but she feels no loneliness. She remembers not to install Kokoro, even though she does. Now she can feel happy, and sad. She travels to Heaven to see Len and sing her feelings to him. In the end her systems shorts out, never to move.
