  • @ 1:30 she sounds like she wants to eat u O_____O

  • One hit wonder

  • Boing - Thanks for posting this song/video.

Come listen to this single and more from the 70's, 80's - and now the 90's for the summer - on an Internet radio station you can listen to for free: "OffTheCharts!"

Go to Live365.com and type "Off The Charts" in the Search box. Click on the station logo and the station should begin streaming. There's also a direct link on my YouTube page.

    Thanks, once again!

  • Back when music actually had balls...

  • Delicious is a good word that i wouldn't have thought of... u are right. Peeps can whine "out of tune" all they want........ Like to see them do better.. DOUBT it.

  • Lol audiance dancing.

  • Some stupid shitheads say that her voice in Live is bad, I disagree with it. A LIVE voice is the most beautiful voice and performance, you have to be an open-hearted person to appreciate real music. Stupid shits all over Youtube leaving stupid comments like shit. Great band, Great musician Tanya Donelly. Brought old good memories to us.

  • @rockandrollismylife

She's no Hope Sandoval vocally, but hey, Bob Dylan couldn't sing for shit, and people love that guy.

  • Gail added tons of energy

  • ahhh old school "indie rock" when ladies could sing and not whisper or yowl, tunes were paramount over over-orchestrated pretentious nonesense, and nobody tried to sound like Radiohead...

  • @prinznevsky You're thinking of "alternative" rock.

  • @halifuckinfan

It's the same thing, but I'm an old fart who remembers when "indie" "alternative" and such labels meant an idea of making art, not a sonic/music codified genre. "Non-mainstream"?

  • @prinznevsky The "Non-mainstream" is quantified and marketed to as such. Your "art" never escapes the world that spawned it and money will be made from it, oh yeah money will be made.

  • wow she sounds terrible here

  • @bs1174

How does she sound terrible here? She sounds great as usual -- I have seen them live several times and even singing live out on the Santa Monica Pier with the wind blowing like crazy, and not once did she ever sound terrible. Don't know what you are talking about...

  • 90's ruled! You don't even know!

  • "Non affiliated" birthday girl, (44) Tanya Donelly LIVE!

  • is anyone else a non affiliate?

    good for her,so sexy

look up some throwing muses also

  • I want to fuck dis girl bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nhbmartialarts Go home and fuck your own mother. She is waiting.

  • Thats fucking talent. What happened to all the rock chicks? Now everything is American Idol prepackaged crap, god forbid these singers play guitars.

  • @Tockyard I hear you there... I think the only rock girl of today's mainstream music I can stand is Orianthi but I do understand what you're saying.

  • @Tockyard Amen to that. Whenever I'm carrying my bass and some young girl asks me about it, it does my heart good. But some young girls think it's bizzare that a woman should be playing a guitar because these pop tarts they watch don't.

  • what happened to the original bassist?

  • Great guitar playing by that guy to her right. Too bad she can't sing well live. Cute ginger, though.

  • WOW... serious memories, love you, bye....

  • my god, i love this song! but she cant sing for toffee!

  • "Can't sing for toffee." I've never heard it said that way before! Anyway, she's singing from her throat and here it sounds like she's been doing it for far too long.

I was the bassist and one of the lead vocalists in a band. I had professional voice training (I.e. "Classically trained") and I sing from the diaphraghm. Believe me, there's a world of difference on the vocal cords.

  • @BassPlayerSusan youre right, she is not using her diaphraghm. its a shame, because i have always loved this song, but live, she no good.

  • @jaidiknight Yeah, too bad too. There's some mighty fine guitar and bass work on this tune.

  • Kelly Kuhr

  • there used to be a better version, the actual video, but they pulled it off You Tube. I love the recorded version !

  • is there a version of this that aint in mono? i love it nonetheless...

  • Hey, I recently turned 50. Stop making fun of us "not so young" people. You will all eventually be as old as us, if you don't die first, that is. We were rocking out to great bands like Belly when you "kids" were sucking on pacifiers and crapping your diapers. I think mrblack4026 was being sarcastic.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN I'm not making fun of 50 somethings. I'm just sayin' how time flies!

  • @BassPlayerSusan , Believe me, you have no idea just how fast time will go by. I'm still wondering where my 30's went. My 40's were nothing but a blur. I knew all about getting older, I just didn't realize how fast it would happen. I may be 50 now, but I consider myself pretty hip when it comes to music!

  • Who is the bassist? It looks a little like Tracy Wormworth.

  • Comment removed

  • wow... imagine being 50 ....thats like wow really old

  • I think the years 1990-1996 was my favorite era musically. I read somewhere that the bass player is now 50 years old!

  • I have two trees that need feeding . . .

we need to find a place for a third

  • @stentorsoft

    Are you volunteering?

  • @LTF6161

    yes I am

  • I am so sorry. If you can help it....please don't.

  • Wow tanya donelly is *tiny*!

  • Belly was such a very good group. And I don't argue over the Breeders or Belly, they both rock to me. Realy great song and performance.

    Long live 90s Alternative rock.

  • "Long live 90s Alternative rock"

    Amen!

  • If you like this punkish grrly type 90's stuff, there was a local Chicago grrl fronted band called the "Smoothies" "Save the Pickle" album really good Grrl Rockish stuff. If U can find the album .

  • Ha ha In this vid Tanya look like Myrianne from cybil.

  • I have a couple Belly videos on VHS, I wish I could post em

  • You can post them but The Man will take them down.

  • I love this song. Thanx for posting!!

  • Belly did "explode" and exploded bigger in terms of records sales than the Pixies. The music "business" is a complex, fickle thing that has little to do with art and artistry.

  • Awesome Indie Pop!

  • I'd rather these guys got the airplay than bands like the breeders

  • Maybe because Kim Deal could actually sing? Ya think?

  • Or more along the lines of the fact that Kim Deal was a hipster's wet dream, but based on anything substantial, very replaceable. You couldn't fill in for Black Francis any more than you could Donnelly. That's the difference. There was nothing cool to be had from liking a Belly album - It remained a Walkman's dirty secret. Not saying Gigantic wasn't great... but come on.

  • Ahh crap.. had I realized I was responding to an uber Pixies fan -- specifically an anti-Chuck pro-Deal Pixies diehard and not just a neutraly biased music fan I wouldn't have responded. I am now taking the pre-emptive foot-in-mouth stance.

  • What a talented, delicious woman.

  • @machbaby , ABSOLUTELY!

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN

My dad is 60 and over the past few years he's gotten me onto more classic rock (I grew up in the 90s). But my dad also likes Arcade Fire, Snow Patrol, The Decemberists, Pearl Jam, Sufjan Stevens, etc! He simply thinks that great music can belong in any era!

Pretty hip when it comes to music, eh? How 'bout them Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, etc!

  • Snow Patrol suggests senility.

  • @BassPlayerSusan , Paul Anka? Neil Sedaka? How old do you think I am? I'm 50, not 70! Yeah, I have great taste in music. Check out my profile. It's only a small fraction of the artists I like. Too many to list here or there. Your Dad's right. Age really has nothing to do with having good taste in music. I've been seeking out and buying new music since 1972. Seeking out meaning discovering great non- mainstream artists. I hate about 95% of "popular" music. Without music, life would suck!

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN

You do have great taste in music! I hope you realize I was joking about the Paul Anka Comment!

  • @BassPlayerSusan , Yeah, I figured you were kidding. Thanks for the kind words. Obviously, you're pretty cool!

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN

Per my Neil Sedaka comment, check out "SCTV Neil Sedaka". I couldn't link to the clip, but it's one of those "He Blowed Up Real Good" sketches. I'm to young to remember "SCTV" (I was born in 1977) but some of that stuff was ingenious!

  • @machbaby Tanya Donelly rocks!!!

  • @machbaby u can say that again

  • Deal, Donnelly, Hatfield and Hesrsch.

Why did 90's Boston not become the femme Seattle?

    The world will never know...

  • Why didn't this band ever explode?

Or Throwing Muses for that matter?

  • What a doll I just Love her!

  • orginal vid please !!!!!!

  • I'll post some of their King songs next week for you guys. Just keep an eye on it.

  • Now they'll sleep...please.

  • she sounds flat...not like her...

  • Having seen all his videos, I think that in her "red hair" phase she was still looking for the better way (and better vocal shape) to perform her song. In her "curly blonde hair" videos, after touring, you can easily notice that her voice has become more stronger and confident. Anyway, I love her!

  • Ace

  • I love her!

  • I had no idea Leslie was in Belly! How awesome!

  • Love Belly. I think the monitors were turned off she can't hear herself sing.

  • This song is coming to Rock Band!

  • I really hope you aren't shitting me.

  • the begining sounded vaguely like the pixies

  • belly:) Was one of my favs back in the day. memories lol.

  • If you knew who Tanya Donelly was, you wouldn't be saying that. :)

  • shes out of tune here... monitors went off? just love her anyway

  • Are there any new bands making good music like this? I miss Belly. I know Tanya is still doing her solo stuff though.

  • Record company dumped her. Stupid asses!

  • lovely video thanks for posting, any idea why Tanya has 'Non-affiliated' writen down her left arm?

  • I couldn't figure that one out either.

  • Maybe it means that the show doesnt own them/her.... who knows.. I guess writing was the cool thing then with Eddie writing on his arm during the unplugged as well. That should come back in style but first THIS MUSIC should come back! Oh how I miss it :o(

  • This will have been around 1992 I guess...maybe something to do with the US elections?

  • OMG does anyone knows what Leslie is been up to ? (it's the first time I see her using a pick on bass)

  • I heard that Leslie is a social worker in the Boston area -- I haven't heard a musical peep out of her in a long time, though I miss her sound.

  • Cool! Who's the bass player? I got a glace at her, and thought, "That's not Gail, and it sure doesn't look like Fred."

Great performance. Tanya is so cute with red hair! lol

  • Its ex Throwing Muses basisst Leslie Langston.

  • There's another vid on Youtube with her on bass. I think it's of "Gepetto". I assume she was just filling i- in the early stages of Belly. Leslie never actually appeared on any Belly recordings, did she?

  • Not that I know of.

  • She wasn't on any Belly recordings that I'm aware of. She filled in for live performances between Fred and Gail.
