There's a historical marker in Greensboro, NC that says some of the government came there after Danville. (G'boro is right down US HWY 29 maybe 35 miles.) Greensboro was never called a capitol, though.
I live in Danville. That's the Last Capital of the Confederacy Monument.... My parents raised it. My dad was president of the HPCA at the time. If u watch the first raising you'll probably see me n my brother running around lol
actually this was the 3rd capitol. 1st was in montgomery, alabama and the 2nd was in richmond, virginia.... long live the confederate states of america!
I grew up there. It is a beautiful old town. You can hear a Norfolk Southern train whistle blowing in the background and that brings up another fact that Danville was a big and important railroad center for the former Southern Railway. It's also the town where "The Wreck Of The Old 97" happened.
Great video! Danville is actually not part of Southwest VA. Its in the region known as 'Southside". its quite different from Appalachia, but it is a lot further west than Richmond.

Great town indeed. Danville was the THIRD capital (Montgomery, Richmond, Danville). And yes, Danville is close to SWVA, but considered "Southside".
