You could also use a clear dish soap with a colored LED. Red, Green, Blue, Amber, etc.

What is the amount of resistance (ohms)?

@Melast74 White LED probably uses 3.5 volts, 25 mA. USB may be 12 volts. Use Ohm's law to figure resistor size. 12 volt supply minus 3.5 volt voltage drop equals 8.5 volts.  Ohm's law R=V/I, R=8.5 volts / .025 amps, R=340 ohm resistor. 340 ohms is an odd size, closest common size would be 330 ohm, and would work just fine. To find wattage rating for resistor, P(watts)=V*I, P=8.5*.025, P=.2125 watts. A 1/4 watt resistor should be OK, if you find it getting hot, switch to 1/2 watt.

good idea using a USB cord. I wouldn't have thought to do that. I would suggest perhaps using resin and hardener in the test tube rather than dishwashing detergent. either way, good job.

Two AA batteries make 3v yes. That will work same as a 3v button cell battery.

Though two AA batteries have allot more mAh so they last way longer then a button cell battery.

any tips on where i can buy that blood test tubes and or can i use any other materials other than a test tube? lastly can i power it with just regular batteries? and so will it affect the type of resistor im gonna be using?
