  • this piece is a part of my competition programme at the moment - i absolutely love it. and you do absolute justice to the piece; very well played indeed! you have an amazing tone on the clarinet.

  • Thanks!

  • I like this better than the other recordings of this piece on youtube.

  • Great performance! the third mov. is amazing!

  • You are A Machine for play clarinet!!!...Very Incredible!!!

  • Your technique and tone are both very good. May i ask you what type of clarinet do you have?

  • Very beautiful playing my friend..how many hours you used to practise back then?I am 20 y old and study clarinet in a University in Greece..

  • Love your energy. I think you are expressive with each individual phrase but you can think about phrasing in a macro level more. For eg. from the beginning to 0:55 your dynamics on the macro level is the same. I haven't play this piece so I don't know how I go about it. But maybe you can study the piano score and find the direction of the big phrase.

    I do think you're talented.

Just curious, I see you're from Venezuela. Are you familiar with El Sistema?

    Emily :)

  • Yeah, I came out of there.

I know Dudamel and almost everyone in the orchestra that you find here in Youtube.

My life took me in another direction. I've never been a clarinet geek. I never practice nor I care about having a $5.000 clarinet. I just play. If I practice 4 hours a day it would be a different story. I used to play more when I was in the "Sistema"

Thanks for checking the video out.

  • awee you don't play clarinet professionally anymore? what direction did life take you then? :)

  • You won't believe it, but I've never been too much into music, or clarinet. I never listen to anything (Concerts, Clarinet Music Etc,). I just do it for kicks pretty much. I never thought it would take me this far.

I'll be graduating and then changing my major pretty soon.

  • GREAT playing for your age, BRAVO however may I suggest when the piano plays the tune at 1:50 you be quieter, the folowing section at 2:10 clarinet needs to be more lyrical in phrasing not so precise, so is the second movement although you play great you need more inspiration to give it some meaningful rubato without loosing your great beat. The third mov is the best. BRAVO_

  • Thanks for your comment. Very insightful.

  • que fino mi pana desde venezuela se te aprecia el talento que tienes... hermano tas un pelo desafinado jejeje... no mentira mi pana eres grande....

  • Gracias Loco!

  • omg your second movement is BEAUTIFUL, great sound and expression, i love it. your sound throughout is amazing, even over video. i find that the hardest part in this entire piece is not losing the sound quality to the intense emotions.

haha and i love your acting at 7:33

i'm preparing the first movement right now for an audition, not too worried, pretty straight forward piece in general.

  • Thanks for the comment!

    You'll enjoy it!

  • what Clarinet do you use?

And would you recoment any parts that you think are important in this piece?I'm just starting this piece in a couple of weeks when it arrives in the post :P

  • I would say the last movement in the fast sections, that was the hardest for me.

You have to be careful with the piece as an overall, but don't worry, after playing it for a while it'll be in your fingers, it's really intuitive.

  • Im only starting this piece now. If I play it as well as you I'll be sorted:)

  • Funny!

    Lol.

It's not that hard, you'll definitively have fun!

  • ur rlly gooood i play clarinet too and i hope to be as good as u bravo bravo

  • Thanks!

You are going to make me blush..!

    lol.

  • Very nicely done. I have to play the first movement for a recital, and I'm nervous. So I came here to hear how it's done well. Great job.

  • Good Luck!

    You'll do well!

  • I play this song too now,

    !!

    its very cool song

and you the maybe comment ny flight of the bumble bee video

you can find it on my channel

    thank you very mach

    Laly from Holland

I am 13 years old now

  • Cool!

    Keep It Up!

  • i think it was super cool. nice technique...

don't care about your memory, you'll learn it.. You remembered almost the whole piece, that's not easy ;) NICE JOB!

  • Thanks for your support!

  • Your technical is very high level !!

  • Thank you!

  • I love this piece you played it really well i might play it for gcse music, probably not as well as you though!! Well done ;)

  • Thanks for the support.

    I'm glad you like it.

    :D

  • C'est très contemporain.

Mais la partie mélodique est surprenante..

    Thank you.

  • Thank you!

I don't speak french but thanks.. hahahaaa..!

  • I'm really jealous that you memorized that. I'm playing this for my college audition in a few weeks and I was supposed to memorize it, but that never worked out.

On another note, are you using vibrato?! Or is that just how the recording is? Because it sounds really good whatever it is

  • I actually put some vibrato in some sections with longs notes, but actually, clarinet is not supposed to use vibrato. At least is not recommended.

It's not like oboe, bassoon or flute. Each instrument has it's standard attributes.

Anyways, thanks for watching and good luck.

  • thanks!

  • how long have you been playing clarinet?

    and you're really good! :)

  • Like 14 years. A long time...

    lol.

I'm glad you like it. It was a nice performance. I don't like playing by memory too much.

  • amazing, im playing this this piece at the moment and its very hard, but its very fun.

I HATE PLAYING BY MEMORY lol, but you did it so well

  • I'm playing now,it's very hard, but you play it very well.

    WooooooooooW!

  • This is simply the best clarinet player on the planet. Rock it out! :) <3

  • Thanks! I get the feeling I know this is..!

  • I loved this piece when I played it my sophomore year in high school. Challenge, but fun

  • It certainly is challenging. Playing by memory is not too fun...

    :(

  • WoooooooW

    that´s very nice!

  • Thanks!

  • oh dear... is the tempo for the 3rd movement that fast... I hope not, for my sake

  • Lol. Probably not, but I was nervous and I took it that way. Good Luck, it's a nice piece!

    :D

  • It was an excellent performance!!!!

    Just great!

  • great!!! i loved it! ur playing reminds me very much of a clarinet professor at the Conservatoire i went to ...Maximilliano Martin principal of the SCO!! u should check him out if u can! i've played that piece many times and its hard to pull off in performance...yeh there were some mistakes but u captured the style superbly and ur confidence helped mask any blemishes so that someone that didnt know the piece wouldnt pick up! well done!

  • Thanks for the comment. Yes, it's a really

piece to play. When you get nervous it's

    annoying.

  • I am not usually a fan of works for clarinet and pianoforte, but this has put a serious interest for the instrument into my imagination.

This music is some of the greatest playing of the clarinet I've seen on Youtube. You insert a particularly human sound into the instrument, projecting that mix of softness and then spikiness into the music. The second movement in particular makes me feel the cool evening air across my face, in whatever place my imagination takes me.

    Surely excellent music!

  • Wow... THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE COMMENT.!

    IT REALLY CHEERS ME UP!

    Good Luck with your cello.

  • Good recording, i really do love this piece! Your mistakes don't matter. It just seems a little too fast, maybe playing is slower could help you and make it sound better!

  • Thanks for the comment though... It's true.

Actually, when I'm nervous I play faster.

    Suerte!

  • I know this opus so I notesed there were a few mistakes. But, you look absolutely selfconfident, so it isn't any problem at all.

I am familliar with it cause I play clarinet too. And I am gonna play this very Sonatina on 27th May. And I must say: this is great music!

  • Thanks for your comment.

I think I played it a little faster...

    I was very nervous actually.

I wish you good luck in your performance.

  • Wow, that's impressive! How do you remember al those notes? I liked part 3 the most. Very good!!

  • Thanks for your comment.

Well, it's a challenge. As usual, you can

always play better, and it was a bit faster

than it should have. Nevertheless, I still like it.

    I'm happy you enjoyed it.

  • Thank you bro...

Hey! You inglich is mad goooood.

I didn't know you were doing that well

    though...

Hey Man, I miss you all...

I hope to see you guys sometime!

    Don't drink too much!

  • I remember this night, I was very proud of you. Im happy this is up on you tube. Now you'll have a fan base, and you know what that means... more practice, more stress, more success. May you receive all the blessings God has in store for you fatty.

    Zetta
