I'm running a 350 sbc out of a 3/4 94 chevy, its pretty stock except for when it was rebuilt, it had stronger forged pistons for the obvious reasons as it was going to be made for a turbo. I'm running a 50mm turbo. I didn't know chevy moved to those transmissions the newest chevy I owned was a 98 and it had a turbo 350 in it as well. Thats exactly what the guy who rebuilt it said, was it should he able to withstand at least 700hp.I was guessing to only be doing about 600hp max.

Nice engine combo, making power won't be a problem. GM fased out the THM-350's for trucks in 1986, and brought in the 700R4's untill 1993 then switched to the 4L60E in the trucks. So your 1998 had a 4L60E. What year vehicle is the transmission out of ?

I didn't pay that much attention to the transmission, it just looked like a turbo 360, taking a glance at the pan. I'm not sure the exact year the transmission is out of, because it was originally purchased from JEGS (mistake #1 form what I've been told).

Never heard anything bad about jegs trannys but I think their transmissions are only good for about 400hp. Even if the jegs tranny won't hold, it's still a THM-350 and you can find hardcord parts for them everywhere. sounds like the rebuild parts weren't up to the task of holding the turbo on your engine either. It's all fixable, just a pain to redo it over again. I've had my share of those type things.

These trucks didn't come with Turbo 350 transmissions, I think they came with 4L60E's or 4L80E's and he's running a Built 4L80E.

what engine are you running ? whats done to it ? turbo or blower ? a built Turbo 350 tranny should be able to hold 700hp no problem so it sounds like the rebuild wasn't done as good as it should have been done or the parts aren't as good as you were told. Either way something isn't right because a turbo 350 tranny should hold 15psi pretty easy.

I have a 71 c-10 running 15psi of boost and im just now getting the thing tunned and im having problems with transmission not being able to take the power even though i just had it rebuilt with the best parts you can just about buy.

Alot of tracks require roll cages when pushing into the nines.

I know the NHRA requires a roll bar if you run 11.49 and quicker, Roll cages start at 9.99. IHRA say's 11.49 and quicker requires a rollbar, 10.99 and quicker requires a cage. Now these rules apply to hard top cars and trucks, convertibles and T-tops have different rules. Tracks can make their own rule's but alot adopt either the NHRA or IHRA.
