Many people say it "ghosts" but those people either had the dodgy original model (that was fixed long long ago) or just look at the specs and nothing else. No such thing on mine or any of the others I've used at work and stuff. Well worth the money, especially if you do any video editing or graphic design.

Why not NEC? I'm sorry, I am a dell hater. I would never buy a product from them, especially a computer. Samsung recently released a 30" 2560x1600 screen that is LED back-lit. I am definitely going to check it out.
@GoldenMurderer NEC tend to cater for the high HIGH end of the market with their displays, and the price shows that. To get a 30" from them it'd be another grand on top of the price of this thing. It's worth it though if you really need that colour accuracy and consistent brightness across the whole panel, but this thing is a great alternative for the majority of people. You'd go NEC if you do a lot of huge roll outs like grading Hollywood movies and large scale marketing materials.
buy an asus ve278q, meanwhile this little baby goes down its price , or save the money to get one, dell u3011 is so much better than the asus ve278q, but i think they are the best monitors in the market right now.
I have the monitor this one replaced, the Dell 3008WFP. I bought the "older" one over this one becuase they were clearing out stock then this one (U3011) was released. Got it for $1300 down from $1999, well worth saving $700! These monitors are made for gaming but you can game on them just fine :-). That said, play on a 30" at 2 feet is kinda annoying, the screen is *too* big. If you are a serious gamer, grab a 24" 120MHz screen.
AFAIK this is an IPS panel, therefore, gaming can't be it's target market. IPS panels have the best color accuracy and are primarily used for video and photo editing. That's just me though.
@zealand21 Gaming isn't it's primary purpose, but they still do a damn good job at it. You really do get what you pay for with things like this. They're amazing all-round displays. I'm sitting in front of the 24" version now and use the previous generation 30" models at the office. I don't recommend anything made by Dell other than their monitors, they do a damn good job with them. People claim they "ghost" due to response time. I've never seen it happen though. Spec lists aren't everything.
@TalesOfWar i do agree that the only dell branded product you should ever consider buying is a monitor but even with them their are far better choices at better prices from competitors and my older Dell monitor had ghosting issues just saying
@HTTIYAN NEVER believe the spec sheet, 99% of the time it's wrong. What I meant was actually black to white to black which is the "real" response time. This is the time it takes for the pixels in the panel to change from black, all the way to white and then to black again. This value is far higher (eg, slower) than what spec sheets tell but is the accurate figgure. You usually have to read reviews of the monitor in question to find the real response time. For this monitor, it's actually 24ms.

I had a 3008WFP, it was fantastic, I got it for $700 refurb with a 1 year warranty, Dell Ultrasharps are the best, especially their 30" 's! Running a Ultrasharp U2211H now, also fantastic if you're on a tighter budget and want 1080p.

Meh I personally think that a 30" monitor is a bit overrated.
I've had one (Samsung 305T) for over 5 years and I quite often wish I was running a standard 1080p monitor.
Having enough graphics power to run the latest games at that res is a wallet thinner.
As it is around double the amount of pixels as 1080p, around 2 million pixels vs around 4 million.
Not to mention the gaming performance disadvantage of frame buffer lag.
But have fun with that, I'm sure you'll enjoy it :)

@GoldenMurderer NEC tend to cater for the high HIGH end of the market with their displays, and the price shows that. To get a 30" from them it'd be another grand on top of the price of this thing. It's worth it though if you really need that colour accuracy and consistent brightness across the whole panel, but this thing is a great alternative for the majority of people. You'd go NEC if you do a lot of huge roll outs like grading Hollywood movies and large scale marketing materials.

buy an asus ve278q, meanwhile this little baby goes down its price , or save the money to get one, dell u3011 is so much better than the asus ve278q, but i think they are the best monitors in the market right now.

I have the monitor this one replaced, the Dell 3008WFP. I bought the "older" one over this one becuase they were clearing out stock then this one (U3011) was released. Got it for $1300 down from $1999, well worth saving $700! These monitors are made for gaming but you can game on them just fine :-). That said, play on a 30" at 2 feet is kinda annoying, the screen is *too* big. If you are a serious gamer, grab a 24" 120MHz screen.

AFAIK this is an IPS panel, therefore, gaming can't be it's target market. IPS panels have the best color accuracy and are primarily used for video and photo editing. That's just me though.

@zealand21 Gaming isn't it's primary purpose, but they still do a damn good job at it. You really do get what you pay for with things like this. They're amazing all-round displays. I'm sitting in front of the 24" version now and use the previous generation 30" models at the office. I don't recommend anything made by Dell other than their monitors, they do a damn good job with them. People claim they "ghost" due to response time. I've never seen it happen though. Spec lists aren't everything.

@TalesOfWar i do agree that the only dell branded product you should ever consider buying is a monitor but even with them their are far better choices at better prices from competitors and my older Dell monitor had ghosting issues just saying

@HTTIYAN NEVER believe the spec sheet, 99% of the time it's wrong. What I meant was actually black to white to black which is the "real" response time. This is the time it takes for the pixels in the panel to change from black, all the way to white and then to black again. This value is far higher (eg, slower) than what spec sheets tell but is the accurate figgure. You usually have to read reviews of the monitor in question to find the real response time. For this monitor, it's actually 24ms.

I had a 3008WFP, it was fantastic, I got it for $700 refurb with a 1 year warranty, Dell Ultrasharps are the best, especially their 30" 's! Running a Ultrasharp U2211H now, also fantastic if you're on a tighter budget and want 1080p.
