Pettigrew transforming back into a rat would suggest that clothes don't transform with the wizard, except for the fact that both Sirius and Peter transform back into humans fully clothes. And then there's that fur coat. Why would a fur coat be able to withstand anything that jeans couldn't?

Regardless, Harry was probably a very happy boy that day. ;D
