This game is released in the late 90s and was considered to be having one of the most sleekest graphics during those times, surpassing gran turismo 3 and almost 4 which comes years later. This game deserved respect as much as its precedessor.

Model 3 was far better than Dreamcast. Proof is that Naomi games looked less complicated than Model 3 ones.

The DC had ports of VOOT, VF3, Sega Rally 2 and Fighting Vipers 2 and the Model 3 versions were vastly superior. SR2 port, I give you, was WinCE based. But VOOT, VF3 and FV2 got smacked by M3 on textures, particles and lighting.

Model 3 was being co developed by Lockheed and was extremely expensive.

It's one of the great mysteries of this game. Your pit chief always says it to start the race. I'm guessing he's talking about the alien spider shooting lasers and stuff.

My friend informs me of a possible sighting of a Daytona 2 cab in a cinema. I'm debating wehther or not ot's real. He says it had "this dodgy plam tree logo". I assume he's reffering to the AM2 logo. The bonus Daytona courses in Outrun 2 aren't that good, there's load of stuff missing. Also, JESUS CHRIST THIS GUY'S GOOD.

I played this several times in my local cinema... or, the arcade near it. Daytona USA 2, Battle on the Edge. I raced this very track, actually. It's Cineworld Multiplex in Yeovil, England.

Hold down the brake as hard as you can. About 1/4 a second before the guy says Go, let off the brake and step hard on the gas. It takes practice.

This and Scud had the best damn graphics in a racing game until the 360 and PS3 game out. The Model 3 always rendered better visuals than its specs would suggest- proof of how pointless hardware spec wars are. This hardware's abilities were as underrated as the Dreamcast's were overrated by SEGA (sorry to say- Yu Suzuki was on crack when he said DC was better than Model 3!).

@Eric4372 Yeah, I've been waiting for so long for this game on my dreamcast. It was supposed to be released with online multiplayer. But it never did come out, and I was realy disapointed. I remember having splent so much money in this game at the arcade, cause it was, and it's still for me the best racing game I ever played in my life (all genre included, and even if the actual console are now capable to produce better graphic than this one). Model 3 was a kick in the ass for its era.

@jaymum23 F-Zero GX for the GC looks better than this, but this does look great for such an old game. GX was programmed by Segas Amusement Vision arcade team, so dont feel bad, Im sure many of the same programmers worked on it.

@jaymum23 I'd say the Model 3 is extremely underrated, but Dreamcast overrated? Test Drive Le Mans pushes far higher resolution textures than this, and runs almost 5 million polygons a second. The DC was "rated" max at "3 million". Now I think the Model 3 and Dreamcast are a lot more comparable than a lot of people would say, but I still think the Dreamcast can do more- this is just AM2 doing really good with what they got. Oh, and the PS2 is the console above all that got "overrated", by Sony.

I had the same feeling for about 30 seconds before I found out how bad those tracks worked along with the outrun 2 physics.

Imagine if Sega would have put a little thought into it...They only had to include a few cars, some music tracks, a few menus and so on, and that would have made them able to slap a sticker on the cover of Outrun2 saying "Includes Daytona usa 2 and Scud race"

However these games should be on xbox-live or ps3 network by now instead of games like Virtua On.

Sega racing game have some of the all-time craziest drifts in any racing game. Hell, this guy could have powerslided around an entire lap, like this was one glorified D1GP touge run. Drift jobs like this make it possible to have Saturday Night at the short track translate perfectly to non-dirt tracks.

Drifting became very enhanced in the game, and the Hornet Classic is the best, with Scorpio Plasma Batteries coming second on drifting skills. BUT if you're expert, then you should be using the PHANTOM!
