it's similar as if you shout. just less distortion, more drama :) i dont have idea still how he manages to crack his voice so much-but then again ive never heard him doing it live

Are you saying he's not frying it? The only way to keep those screams healthy is fry vocal.

And in your own experience, do you feel pain/hoarseness/strain during or after a session of those type of screams?

just loud yelling, half-clean, half-distorted

there is hoarseness after 30 mins or so. it's surely unhealthy for one's voice. but on the other hand - it's 'real' screaming after all, and very emotional i'd say (thus damaging your vocal cords at the same time), not just fake (imho) whisper or fry screaming (fry scream may be unhuman and such but still i wouldnt call it REAL screaming)

Sounds very interesting, indeed. You're right about it being emotional, hence the damage afterwards. When emotion is put in between performance and technique, it's not clean work but it's definitely going to enhance a live show.

Fry vocal will become real screaming after you've learned to belt out a loud one.

It's quite a shame that fry is so hard to get on the right track, I'd love to do more than just low and semi-low false cord growls.

of course i'm not anti-fry person, just said i prefer suicide season-era sykes vox :)

besides, i'm not much into vocals, but it seems i can fry very high and semi-high screams only (other covers-pray for plagues, attack attack).. growls are completely beyond me :)

Yeah, I see your point. Personally I don't like emo or screamo music but all those techniques are worth something. Diversity makes things interesting, anyway.

Growls are awesome, as well. Metal wouldn't be the same without growls, then again fry vocal screams & harsh cleans are just as needed.
