Thanks for that; I play this game on chess moves dot com sometimes, removing my reading glasses so i can see the board but not the moves! Please upload some of your OTB games if and when you have time; I miss them.
The reason for resigns is White threatens Ng4+. The rook pins the black pawn against the king, and next the white N captures black N and attacks the queen, which must move, and then maybe the pawn advances again.
I noticed that you said you aren't an expert on sicilian as you don't play e4. Then, why would you choose a game that starts with e4? Just choose games that follow openings that you use and you will find lots more useful ideas for your games!
Actually, I'm not sure this is a good method for 2 reasons. First, you may need 10 minutes to find the good move sometimes (for example, that Bc7 you overlooked), while other moves need just 10 seconds (recapture the knight on b3). I would prefer working on a total time, not a time per move. Second reason I doubt this method is 100% profit is that grandmasters usually dont play the same time control than amateurs. Anyways, I think this is good to get ideas, not as a whole training method.
@fgicon Interesting. I think it's a way to come quite close to the experience of playing the game ourselves. Certainly for people who don't live near a chess club this can be a good training method. Your idea about working on a total time is very interesting. Thanks!
High Majnu, happy to have you back. I would regard vids like this even more helpful than the straightforward instructions/analysis ones finds one most of the other sides. - I sometimes felt, that your thinking process was erreous or missed obvious facts, but paradoxically just these flaws are motivating one, not just to consume a lecture, but to take active part. - Wonder, how many masters would have the guts to risk such an unprepared leap in the dark. Respect.
@TheHuginMunin oh yes, this is much more helpful than just replaying a game. About my thinking proces: you are right, I do miss many ideas and moves. Just like alll of you I'm an amateur trying to improve.
I think in the final position there is the dual threat of Ng4 (taking advantage of 2 pins) and Nd3 winning the knight. Excellent random game to choose!!
hi there majnu, what if white played Bh8 at 19.00 instead of Qd6, threatening Qg7 mate? could that work?

It was fun to watch as you and i were in disagreement four times, two of the times Short chose your move and the other two times he chose my move :)
I wish you would upload more, especially more of your own longer games (not blitz) :)

I dont think black resigned just because of Re1:
black could play Re6 and respond to Re1 with Rfe8
I think the main point is black has the amazing move Ng4+ attacking the night and checking the king.
lastwarrior2004 2 months ago
in all of your Nh5 variations it seems that black still has the defense of Ng6

@manfredoxyz and @Nunchucks67 Yes, Qf6 is the threat. Brilliant indeed!
Majnu2006 2 months ago
Lol. Qb6 threatens Qf6 like manfredoxyz said. He used this to propel him to the Bc7 tactic. Brilliant play

f6 sorry not fg lol

when he play Qb6, the main threat was to move Qfg, which would have been mate in 1. That's why black had to move Bg5

at 30.00 is actually a big difference between Rc1?? and Knf6:!
The rook move simply looses the Queen to Bd4+!
