I just purchased a new laptop battery because my old one is completely dead. I fully charged it to 100% but when I turned on my laptop I notice that it start losing power every 2 min. Is this normal? should I return it? or what?

Ok...I had a quick question for u all...I have this dell studio laptop whose battery is in top shape...Recently I decided to keep it plugged in even after it says "100% charge" instead of charging/decharging all the time....It's a Lithium ion battery and I wanted to know that does it "stop charging" after it is fully charged ? In other words, does it start using power after it is fully charged ?

@TechSupportGoneBad that's could be anything - either the macbook uses less power - which isn't - always- a good thing (intel atom processor netbooks last up to 10 hours+/- due top low power consumption but they are weak) and you can always get 9 cell or 12 cell batteries with higher capacity cells - or build one if you need loads of backup. the load of the operating system can also play a major part, you can skin down your windows o.s to feather-weight and you'll see a boost in performance

IF you still have your old battery, then you could go on amazon and type in the search and filter it by brand. Thats what I did recently and I am going to get a new battery today or tommorow. @fagerbag it should be fine then i do the same thing and mine lasted a good 4 years before i had to replace it and the one i am using is on its second years and still holds a good amount of charge

u should have mentioned that a new battery will cost 100-200 depending on the cells

u should have mentioned that batteries can and WILL last up to 5 years.

at the 5 years mark it will probably not be able to hold any charge.

You never use a battery out of the box, you risk getting a memory. It also matters where you get the battery some manufactures use a type of lithium batterys that can catch on fire and/or explode. And lastly I don't think anyone can't put a battery in a computer but that's just my opinion.

my new macbook pros battery lasts up to 5 years, dont believe me get a mac and youll never see that blue screen again and you wont have to change ur battery so soon iether and you wont have to wait 1 minute 4 it to turn on these are just minor reasons why PC users should switch to mac.

-i realize most mac ppl are just rich and dumb

-the blue screen has not appeared on many laptops in any current day status

-too expensive

-pc is more modable in every way

-my computer loads up in 23 seconds (take that foo)

@MoltenFilms apple/macbook batteries are the exact same as any other laptop batteries. If you open them up they have a bunch of regular old liion batteries inside. Saying they are specially is just uninformed.

@MasterLukeBroad You generally don't want it to be plugged in all the time, the newer batteries work better when the electrons are able to flow.

@MasterLukeBroad only replace the battery if you need to or run into problems... you could throw your battery in the trash if you don't ever use it unplugged... (there are a few laptop setups where the power goes in through the battery but thats pretty rare)

Well, considering i bought my laptop from my cousin, he used it a lot, (he is a pilot, he fly's private planes) and i used it for about 4-5 hours a day doing random stuff, mostly talking with friends. eeh. you are a true geek.

Sorry about the double post, but... my laptop battery lasted about 4 years, and i could still use it for about 1 ½ - 2 hours. There are a few things you can do to make it last longer, just google it.
