@murderinthebarn, when demonstrating and repping a new technique it is good to go slow, and after a few reps to get a feel of the movement a training partner will begin to add resistance. Typically, when working on technique it is good to go slower, just like shadow boxing is not done with knockout power.
Rodrigo needs to come to NYC. Lots of students, who left Renzo's in disappointment will sign up for Rodrigo's classes. I hate to say this, but his videos are much more informative than Renzo's classes were. Rather than spending $200 per month on Renzo's, I can buy the Gracie DVDs and learn just as much, if not more.
Rodrigo goes over all the errors that occur in sparring and reality. Every little adjustment that he goes over makes a world of difference. Thumbs up.
wow, what a bunch of BS! the attacker is NOT going to have noodle arms that you can just move!!! typical "martial arts BS"! Try pulling that off in the streets. HA!
Agreed, and because in any real life situation where you needed to use it the attacker is going to be wearing clothes and many gi applications transfer quite nicely to a jacket, shirt or even a t-shirt.
Its not hard to understand. He escaped the mount, And landed in full guard. As you can see. The guy in the purple is preety much fucked. Because i can't do that flip shit that rodrigo did. So He went from Mounted, To Dominante Full Guard. Simple.
Is he not in guard position anymore? No he's not.. So he clearly escaped from guard. It shouldn't be so hard to understand. He wounded up in a dominant position. That is meant by escape from guard. Geez
@RussianRuletable Using the phrase "Escape From Guard" is improper BJJ terminology, and anyone who has *actually* studied BJJ would have their facts straight and properly call the move a Guard Reversal. Rodrigo maintained control the whole time. The dude in blue did not escape from Rodrigo's guard control.
Yes, it would be stupid to simply "escape" from your own guard control. (Unless you lack confidence to better your position, then, running away may be your best option... lol)
To all the Key-Board Gi Wizards, this isn't the simple ankle pendulum sweep...it's something entirely different. You don't GRAB at the elbows because a Gi is a lot more easy to grip and because grabbing the elbows would straighten them, allowing the opponent to grab the ground.
its alright i guess but i wouldnt try it you could easly end up in a mount trying that escape and another comment next time dont grab him by the gee grab his elbow
he can easily mount you if you do the tiniest mistake. or he scopes your feet back and mounts you. its a dangerous guard escape and you may end up in a worse position then you have been
Thats a different escape, AND the problem with that escape is, if he is strong and fast, your opponent will grab your lapel and slam you, it happens in a second

the guy in the blue gi had him in the guard so he escaped from the guard and went to the mount!
Warcon739 2 years ago
@tinaXXXtaylor well is he still in guard?
no, he escaped into a mount, just escaping would be stupid, a reverse would be smart
