Hmmmm I think that First fish was bigger than 2.9, look at the metal gill hook on the electronic scale @ 1:55 it wasn't positioned right, it was caught in the links of the chain, not giving you a more accurate reading, id say it was 3+ cause of its length
how long have you been fishing conventional? do you ever get backlash? and last one what type of reel are you using in this video because im looking for a fresh water conventional.
@FiZzHD Im not sure what conventional means but Ive been fishing since I was like 3 I started hardcore bass fishing about a year ago. You dont want the reel im using in this video trust me, It sucks. If you want a good reel I would go with the Shimano Curado 200E7 the best reel in the world for the money, and to your backlash question... I backlash only with the crappy reel thats in this video I never backlash with my Shimanos
@MRbassmasterman oh, conventional is the reel type you are using, a spinner has the bail on top and is under the rod, conventional is on top of the rod cant really explain it but if you put your reel in this vid next to a spinner then you would see a lot of differences, and i was looking at the citica E low Profile on basspro
@FiZzHD Ive always heard them called casting reels or baitcasters or baitcasting.. and I have a Citica, its a good reel just not as smooth as my curado but still very nice
@MRbassmasterman yeah i have some conventional, or baitcasters, that i use for saltwater which is mainly what i do for bluefish/striped bass/blackfish and they are all big reels, i like the curado and the citica because they are nice and small and smooth, thats what im looking for, i do have one like that but its so old iand im going to look it up
@FiZzHD Another great option is the Shimano Caenan. With a 3/8 oz spinnerbait it was casting farther than my citica and maybe even farther than my curado, my best advice is to try one of those shimanos and you wont be sorry. Ive had an abu garcia that broke, a pinnacle that broke, and a bps reel that casted like 2 feet, I switched to Shimano and all of those problems dissapeared.
@MRbassmasterman cool ill look into the caenan and the others you recommended, and this reel i mentioned is a silstar piece of junk, and the rod is the weirdest rod ive ever seen, its by Abu Garcia and its called the conolon 200, dont even bother looking it up to see what it looks like because you will never find anything about this rod or reel, i couldn't. the rod has this tiny tiny handle like so small you hold it with one hand and its like fake aligator skin made out of rubber, its so weird
ive ran into a bunch of gators all over the place around LA and TX but i havent seen any at hawkins, they have some pretty decent bass in there and for some reason that lake got stocked with a bunch of pickerel. and i think dave mercer calls pickerel and those kinds of fish "gators"....... peopel go out there and fish for bass but end up catching alot of pickerel also.
@fishercrazy1994 Yeah no ice down here do you like how im wearing shorts? I wouldnt be wearing the hoodie but the wind made it a little cold but yeah East Texas has some awesome weather year round
@MRbassmasterman@MRbassmasterman i live close to east TX also, except on the LA side of Toledo bend. east TX has alot of really great lakes. toledo bend, sam rayburn, BA steinhagen, conroe, fayette lake, lake livingston, etc etc. i drive to a different lake every weekend to those ones i just called off and there are about 4 more on the LA side that i fish also.
@MRbassmasterman i have fished Fork twice and caught some big bass.... my grandparents live in hawkins right on hawkins lake which is really close to Fork. im actually in Afghanistan right now "im in the Army" but i i am here for a year and im taking mid tour leave at the end of march or beginning of april, i picked that specific time because of spawning season and i actually plan on doing an entire week long tour of fishing most lakes of east Texas, and Fork will be one of my stops.
@MRbassmasterman oh yeah, and one of my combos is the same exact as yours, 200e7 / 7ft MH carrot stix. its not my most expensive but probably my favorite out of my 9 setups. i use it mostly for T-rigs and spinnerbaits.
Here is something that works with a swim jig use braid tie it onto the hook and attactch a fluke to the end of the braid 10 inches back from the jig, try a white fluke.
