  • the first and only known and scientificaly accepted person to be cured of HIV was via a stem cell / bone marrow transplant and yet it is accepted as the cure they later stated this although a cure would not be availible to people as a cure they are still looking for a less painful procedure, thinking that people with HIV would not risk the pain to be cured ?.......Sounds like a bunch of B.S to me

  • @CRISHOOKER2010 Yeah, the option SHOULD be out there. Every and any option.

  • I work for Stem cells inc., and I hear whispers of the potential for the company to be acquired by Pfizer. The bid I understand to be at 4.00 a share and 1.00 a share in the acquiring companies stock. I believe that this should make the holders very happy. The reason for the takeover, I understand, is due to our recent research on how Stem cells can be used for the rejuvenation of an injured spine. I hear that acquisition will include all facilities plus research and development rights.

  • ''I feel goofy'' just for saying that you are a big goof. fool

  • Too bad those lazy stupid ass scientists are too busy trying to cure erectile dysfunction instead of curing paralysis.

  • i'm interested to volunteer for an experimental stem cell transplant, i hope that anyone who reads this can lead me there...

  • I'm greatly interested in volunteering to an experimental stem cell procedure. I already did but it was way short. I hope that this website together with it's connections can lead me to the ongoing research conducted by politicians and pharmaceutical giants in the U.S. Hope to hear from you.

  • Hi, my name is Jinkee. In the past two years I underwent an experimental stem cell procedure in one of the Philippines' reputable hospital. we did everything but the experiment did not make me walk again. I am still so willing volunteer to another experimental stem cell treatment. I read that there is an ongoing research in the U.S. pioneered by politicians and pharmaceutical giants and they are recruiting for volunteers. I hope that your website together with you connections can lead me there.

  • whats wrong with taking someones OWN STEM CELLS and using them to help? absolutely nothing...

  • had to go to a different country to get the treatment though.. Land of the free..

  • The issue is--Stem cells are not something Big Pharma can develop in their laboratories, then patent and make a huge fortune from. Therefore, little funding is available for research into this type of treatment, and there will not be in-your-face advertisements for stem cell therapy as there is for the latest poisonous drug Big Pharmas mad scientists have concocted.

  • Too bad the scientists here are too damn lazy and are too busy finding cures for erectile dysfunction.

  • I wish that he recover :)

  • I'm a quad too and I'm pretty sure its not real. If it is then the gov is keeping this hush hush cause they want all the credit. I'm also losing faith in the researchers cause all I see on tv is another pill to help you with erectil dysfunction.

  • When you become a disabled yourself and can't walk, can't feel hot or cold. Have to have someone put on your socks. Then you can preach about how immoral or how wrong it is. As I pray to get better for 4 years. I was blessed by being given the opportunity to get this treatment. So I will accept the blessing.

  • @1998Kuwait Oh waa waa. Not everyone sells out just because they get paralyzed. People who aren't paralyzed have every right to oppose ESCR. Enough of that whiny argument.

  • @1998Kuwait

May I know what you did for your treatment. I'm a quad for 17 years. My life is totally hectic. Need some treatment to get some function back. Please send me an email at mehdisatter@gmail.com

  • @1998Kuwait Hey I'm a c7 t1 quad where can I go to get the information for this treatment please help me thanks!!!

  • Hi I'm a c7 t1 quad please tell me where can i go to get this info for this treatment thank you!!!

  • I feel sorry for that poor kid. Had embryonic stem cells been employed as much as the other cells have been explored he would most likely be back to 100% normal. Complete spinal separations have been successfully repaired in primates using embryonic stem cells.

There is no proven substitute for embryonic stem cells.

  • As amzing as this is, its also only a very, very partial restoration of his spinal cord. I would think someboey with a full restoration would be up and walking around easily. It would take perhaps a couple months to restore the muscle strength tops.

What is a shame is that the mininformed stateside demand the blocking of stem cell research. The impossible has been achieved here, even if its not completely successful. With more research who knows.

  • hey I'm a c5 c6 quad. And i can walk when i hold stuff. and i don,t have stem cell surgery. jus keep updates on my profile and you'll see. oh, and i don't use any type of braces either

  • I think anyone who dissagress with Stem Cell Research should get their backs broken then denied Stem Cell Help.

  • I'm a quad and I disagree with embryonic stem cell research. However, I'm all for stem cell research involving adult stem cells. Wasn't this video about adult cells? Anyway it's never right to destroy one life to improve another.

  • It is not unethical to take discarded embryonic stem cell tissue from fertility centers and use them to help other peoples lives. Dr Hans Kierstead explains the ehical and moral issues of embryonic stem cells, you should check it out

  • It is immoral to destroy embryos. Since that should be illegal so should embryonic stem cell research. Plus, they want to create embryos specifically for the purpose of destroying them to use the cells for research. That is evil. Each person conceived is made in the image of God and has an eternal soul. We will have to give an account of judgement day for any lives we destroyed. Embryonic stem cell research will encourage the destruction of more lives.

  • @imbonnie

yawn... you know what? I'll take you up on that argument that it's "immoral" because of some "divine power." Assuming then that there is a "god," well then that god must really fucking hate you to put you in the sad pathetic condition you are in.

By the way, you should refuse the treatment when the technology becomes available. You deserve your paralysis, stupid cripple.

  • I will refuse it. God doesn't hate me. This life is a drop in the ocean. You need to look around by the way. There are plenty of disabled people in the world. And you will either die young or grow old. So why would you curse a state that you could soon find yourself in? You're very hateful. You need to lighten up.

  • @imbonnie Your answer to savemyplaylist 6mos ago, that you would refuse ESC therapy made a great impression on me. You are so inspiring to me and a great person. You have found the Source of true happiness. I hope that you will continue to reflect the Light you have been given, and I pray that you will be healed. Yes,BONNIE, God loves you; and you are proof that He loves everyone, cuz I know you felt hatred coming at you,but returned love, to that twisted soul. You are so precious to Him,PEACE2U

  • @CoolConejo I broke my neck and I'm against embryonic stem cell transplants but I'm all for adult stem cell transplants.

  • Its a miracle!

  • where can i sign up

  • Stories like this offers hope. I for one do not care where the cells come from or lose sleep about the ethics regarding the use of embrionic cells.

For those people who oppose the use of stem cells on religious grounds I would like them to reflect upon human suffering and sacrifice... after 10 years suffering with a C5/6 Spinal Cord Injury (tetraplegic-quad) I may have chosen crucifiction as a more humane way to die when I had my injury.

  • Nicely said!!

Embryos are also not the *only* source of stem cells. Do some searches on mesenchymal stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. There is hope!! Mesenchymal stem cells are those that our body stores in very limited quantities. Induced Pluripotent stem cell technologies are allow about reverting skin cells into stem cells -- there are some promising studies out there!!

Time and funding is what we need!!

  • ips cell therapies are 40 years away though :( if ever

  • There are natural substances that help your body release more of your own adult stem cells in non-invasive and less costly ways, we just have to let people know about these sources. Some of my family members have greatly benefitted from them.

  • "I may have chosen crucifiction as a more humane way to die when I had my injury." ---I too am a c5/6 quad for almost 10 years and I have said the same exact sentence! If people only knew what the last decade has been like for me they would be compasionate and put me out of my misery.

  • There is hope even for those who can't afford proceedures like this one. There are natural substances that help your body release more of your own adult stem cells, so they can go and repair the damaged tissue.

  • what are the natural substances??

  • My son had a car accident a little over a year ago that left him paralyzed. He is T5-6. I was wondering if we would be able to contact you and find out more information on your experience in portugal and your current condition

    thanks

    LS

  • i think this will be easier if the arnese they use to help him to walk is more flexible.i think is also heavy to carry.

  • BubbleYum, yes I'm a C5-C6 quad and have been since August 1985. I've seen a lot of quackery over that time and this stuff makes me pretty sceptical. There would have to be a huge conspiracy to cover this up and keep it out of the world's media. I have several Dr.s in my family who would also have to be involved in said cover-up. Medical magazines would be jam packed with the science and these Dr.s would be receiving Nobel Prizes. Anyway... to each their own.

  • This is for real. Virtually all patients have had some relief, if only bladder control restoration, but not all have been able to get up afterwards and the rehab is critical. This is as my rat & paralysis videos. Laura Dominguez & Susan Fajt testified to US Senate. You'd have heard about this done with embryonic, but there's a conspiracy of silence for other stem cells. You're right to be skeptical. Countless quacks want your money. Do own research (contact me, too) and conclude for self.

  • OK. Here's my question. Y do you suppose there is a cover-up of the help non-embryoic SCs can possibly bring? That surely would be one of the, if not THE, greatest medical discoveries ever. I'm Canadian, so I don't buy that it's simply a US cover-up. Quite literally, every country and top medical agency on the planet would hv to be involved. For what purpose? Do SCI patients in Europe automatically get this treatment? If not, why? I've saw 'The Miracle Cell' a few years ago...

  • & did find it exciting. I thought... wow, finally something looks promising. But there was no big news event. No press conferences, Nobel Prizes... nothing. The Canadian Paraplegic Association didn't get excited, nor The Rick Hansen Foundation. Why? Here's what I want to see. I want those who get into these studies & trials to do their own documentaries. Record life before, during & after the treatment and show what progess takes place. Don't talk about God or prayers... hope & determination...

  • None of that BS. We'd all have walked ages ago if it were about hope, God, prayers, grit and will. It's not. It's about science. So, if I were involved in a project like this I'd document everything, put it up on the net for free (allow donations to cover the cost) & then flog it at various film festivals. Whether I got results or not. Because that's part of the story. The first time I heard about a SC of a rat being repaired & the rat walking agan was in 1986...

  • I was still in rehab & Rick Hasen was wheeling around the world to raise money for a cure & to raise awareness of SCI. & since then, I've seen many many claims of cures... 23 years, next week since my accident (diving)... damn right I'm sceptical but I put some responsibility on those involved in the trials to keep the world informed if indeed they are getting the results they claim. All they need is a camera, youtube & a website. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Shout from the rooftops.

  • What's exciting today is development of scaffolding, nanotechnology, and biomatrix materials that draw your own stem cells to the damaged areas. This is the future of any repairative therapy (my sister just had some put in to rebuild her stomach muscle destroyed in an accident).

  • I don't think it's a cover-up as much as stuck ideas. A decade ago, it was thought embryonic was the best and the media, not knowing enough about the science, just can't drop that idea. I can quote studies till the cows come home and I'm ignored like I'm a nut. Think of how many crazies come to them with ideas, it's a shame they don't do their own research. Now, researchers/business ... you can patent an embryonic stem cell, you can't your own. 1st 1/2 billion in CA's initiative is for new labs.

  • arent these the same cells that have the adenovirus in them?

  • No. Those are the ones from final tissue - like skin, or hair, that make 'embryonic'. These are from the olfactory system. U-Louisville preparing for clinical trials, and others around the world as well.

  • I wonder why they arent using these olfactory neurons for brain injuries yet.

  • I guess these kind of therapies aren't expensive enough!

  • the stem cells here are not "embryonic" since they were extracted from his nose. there are a few regions in our bodies that store limited quantities of these stem cells!!

  • if this works, why are we not all being pumped with SCs? & shouldn't paras be up and running?

  • Stem cells are experimental - and forever. US very strict on clinical trials; Dr. Lima works with olfactory cells in Portugal with universities (like Wayne State and Henry Ford's spinal rehab clinic in Detroit). Grand Rapid's press has excellent video of Kadi DeHaan (may be on YouTube, too.) Check out my other videos. You'll be amazed! Stem cells are not always the answer, though. It's all being worked out. May be used for gene/drug transport, too. (Not embryonic, though. They form tumors.)

  • no! are you a Quadriplegic sometimes things work for different people.

  • reply below

  • For one thing, stem cells are still experimental, as always there will be people who will try to stop their research because of their beliefs or safety. I'm not going against religion or any other thing, but if it wasn't for the people who had stop stem cell research before, the research would have advanced more than than today.

  • But we can't afford the money !!!

  • This video is the proof that the treatment with stem cells can be an ethic choice! Science dont need to kill embryos to save life. And, as we know, for 20 years many embryos had been killed for NOTHING! May God help this young man to be completely healed! Congratulations to the doctors and to the report!
