i released a raccoon the other day, just push in and pull it up with a stick. its obvoius if they have rabies, usually they just sit there until you let them out.
ya i got 1 idea of making a trap. Just cut 4 36 inch wood ( etc.) then u cut eight 18 inch boards 4 the opening. Srew the 36 inch boards into a rectangular box. Then add the 18 inch boards on the end of each 36 inch boards into your doors. Then add chicken wire around the trap ( u might need 2 cut some of the chicken wire so it can fit). Then staple the chicken wire on your trap. add whatever u want 2 the back end of the trap. ( release door) Then jsut add the trap door.
@xThomasx4 try a drop trap its not automatic but you can trigger anytime u want so u can get multiple animals. normally one animal scouts and everything watches but if u wait then u can get multiple things
ya, ya, real genius! next thing you know, you will need a computerized remote-control system to launch the catching mechanism, and a millionaire to own one such device as well as a nuclear bomb to kill the rat, not forgetting you also need to be a rocket scientist to be qualified to operate it... all for lousy rats... in the end, the rats might not even bother to enter the trap, ouch!!!
You're right on with that. I've used that same live trap with dozens of coons, and I'm gonna make that same mechanism. Brilliant! The worst animal I've ever had in mine was a monster skunk! That took some thought...I ended up walking up to it with a towel in front of me so it couldn't see me, covering the cage, and using a rake and a pole to maneuver the door open. Whew!
Smart idea!!

They're usually scared and run away, but one rabid raccoon that doesn't run would ruin your day. Better safe than sorry.
From Wikipedia: "Of the 6,844 documented rabies cases reported in the United States in 2004, 37.5% were in raccoons"...
