This was really one of the cooler and more creative battles of the series. Another one was the vertical battle in the movie. Its just too bad it only serves as the introduction rather than the main point of the episode.

the frigates only have he advantage at very long ranges (prow super-heavy turret) or at top (shots from the medium turrets), at close ranges and at broadsides they go down easy due the venators carry more ship-vs-ship firepower (turbolasers)

Here is what could be an answer to all the questions on why the Separatist were winning this battle:

Whenever you are at a higher level than your opponent, depending on the type of cruiser, every turret is used, However, when you are lower than your opponent the cannons built in on the cruiser is useless because they fire straight out, not up. So the only solution is the Turret cannons, but since only 4 were made in production less lasers are fired and Separatist take control.

@TheUSAProductions those Separatist cruisers are really good when they have the high ground. the turrets on those cruisers are built on the bottom for destruction of the troops on the ground. but using them in space can also cause super casualties. Space battles like these rely on the smarter opponent. and how you know your ships. i would attack the same way.

Guy's, Ever Notice how the Cruisers always Fight Front To Front. Venators Dont Have Heavy Armor Like The Separtist. Thats Why It looks so Weak. And the Republic's Turrets Arent very Strong. They Depend on Shield's to Consist on how much Power is in a Shot.

Space Battle?!?! It's pretty clear to me that the majority of the battle is fought in the planet's amtosphere.....Anyways, you only posted 45 seconds of the battle, the battle in the episode lasts almost 6 minutes and is one of the better battles of the series.

Everytime I see this clip I wonder why 3 frigates were able to beat 3 cruisers. I mean the Venator's heavy guns, the DY-283 or whatever you call them. The big oneso n the sides of the bridge. Those alone shoulda punched holes right through those Municifents. Still a good episode but I swear that battle was rigged.

@MegaUnderlord the seps are weak on there bottom tho so they would be at a disadvantage they had alot more ships than them it was like 3 to 1 for them or 2 to 1 they had a good advantage and they probly ambushed them or somthing to get the uper hand maybe the republic went under so they can hit there weak spot

@DarthUltronicus what I dont get is how in Holocron Heist. The Resolute was able to single handedly win againist a fleet of like 6 frigates, while here 3 cruisers can't beat 3 frigates. wth?

it kinda sucks that theyve made an unoriginal series of star wars, but the episodes actually shows what happens between the end of star wars 2 and the begining of star wars 3. these series also show more violence than in the original star wars series. they show f.ex that a ship is going down with a 70% burning hull and loss of engine power with crew still onboard, so ill say these series are quite cool :P

I think that the tactical droid in this battle was smarter than Grevious, I mean think about it: He lost his own damn flagship, way bigger than one Venator and way over-gunned. This droid came in and took out 3 venator's with three Munificent's. Good jod!!!

How do 3 munificents (or however you spell it) defeat 3 venators, when venators have twice the fire power and armor. And the CIS isnt event damaged.

I agree with you on this point. If it was 3 Venators against 3 Lucrehulk ring batteships, the Venators would definitely be in this situation. Lucrehulks are 3km in diameter, and can carry way more battle droids and fighters than Banking Clan frigates.

Gen Grevious in Downfall of a Droid explained that if they were to attack from above they would be vulnerable so why is it working here?

Yes. But still, the Venator's main cannons should have beat the crap out of the Munificents.

If you remember from episode 6. Grevious says that if his fleet attacked from above, the republic venators would have the advantage over them. (sorry if i sounded like a geek for remembering that :D)
