Can you tell me how does this app sync with iCal?

WiFi? 3G, Mobile Me? etc?

I do not have Mobile Me and am concerned this will not sync without it.

Dude you CAN set this app to sync on its own... Go to settings- sync- and turn on "sync at launch"

I know, but what I meant is background syncing, I feel as though having to go to the tab to sync in an unnecessary step. If the app finds a linked computer, it should automatically sync in the background.

Also, sync at launch is a pain because if I am away from my computer, it opens to that tab when I have no intention of syncing because I am not home or something.
