  • Just did some research on my car and in 1988 only 809 Trans Am GTA's were manufactured with 305 - 5 speed and T-Tops. It also has special 3.45 rear end. The T-Tops were not available in the 350 because of the extra torque. I got around that by having mine bored out and re-inforced the frame with Frame connectors. Now I have the horse power, the T-tops, and the 5 Speed!

  • i would sell that car if i were you. waste of space.

  • @RustyShacklefeird LOL... Thanks for making me laugh. The 66 Mustang in the garage probably feels the same way!

  • @trinella58 the 70s and 80s were the Worst years for camaros and Trans Ams.

  • the car is hot ..but the song !!! eniway your car Rocks

  • @borntobewildpascal Yea.... i know but youtube won't let me upload any main stream songs and i had to pick from their canned ones. To lazy to look around.

  • wtf? did it have a manual swap? no gta's came with a manual tranny. they all have the automatic 700r4.

  • @IxIcOIrIEyIxI Hey WTF! Obviously you don't know your GTA History! Look it up on Google! The 5 speed was an option for 88! I factory ordered it and still have the bill of sale to prove it.

  • god blus this car thank you very much

  • @Trans3am Lol.... your welcome.

  • Haha nice title :D NEVER give up a GTA!! EVEEERR!!! xD

  • @xMrphLaPjaCkx Don't plan on it.... thanks

  • Thanks! Yes i plan to keep it... Each year I get more compliments on it... So much fun to drive.

  • @trinella58 I have the same with auto trans 16K miles! I'll be getting clasic plates Jan 2012. Mine will be 4 sale in the spring...I also have photos

  • @zhedwallz NICE! I would keep it ... I am getting more comments on it as each year passes.

  • nice car i seen a white one of these with 40K on it going for 14K these 3rd gens are getting more valuable every year

  • @3rd4thgenFbody Thanks .... yes they are going up each year.! Although I had a moron last year seriously offer me no more than $5000. for it. I did tell him to take a hike!

  • Your car is a show piece you should take it to car shows, there are not that many trans ams left on that good of a shape, I own a 1983 in excelent condition and I am planning on finishing up the restoration as funds allowed.Enjoy your vehicle and donot sell it keep it other people wont take good care of it like you have it is a piece of automotive history that should be preserve for future generations to enjoy and to show general motors what a mistake thay made when they discontinue pontiac.

  • OMG! You just convinced me to keep mine. LOL I've got the same car with the 350 and the Ferrari rear deck customization. How can I sell it now!

  • is it for sale?

  • @RicerEater1978 NO... but thanks for asking... maybe someday

  • @trinella58 lol. I only did it to be a smartass. It really is a nice car though, ive got my own to work on :p

  • Amazing, it's in really great shape! be sure to check out my 1988 trans am! :D

    G.T.A FOREVER!

  • Dude I'm so jealous I want one of the babies EXTREMELY BAD!!!

  • GRAND TOURING AMERICANO

  • what does gta stand for?

  • @camarolover1982 Grand turismo Americano

  • car is mint...

  • i like the 89 better. that digital seedomiter n all tha buttons on the wheel look retarded. jus my oppinion cuz i own the 89gta. i kinda wish i had a 5 speed tho

  • good man!! some day i'll be cruising around in my 91 formula, hopefully soon!! lot's of restoration needed though but i'm keeping the full resto for later on, just an engine and tranny swap with body work to be able to pass inspection and drive around every weekend!!!

  • wats this song called? and if u ever sell this car u let me know. thats the exsactly the same car i want thats dream car! hit me up when u ever decide tp sell this car

  • keep it bro i got one there a sweet ride but mynes a 1991 pontiac trans am gta

  • When I see these cars in the still rolling around, it brings me back to the old school days. The GNX Grand National, Monte Carlo SS, 442 Cutass Supreme, 5.7 Camaro IROC Z, and many others that were around the time era brings me back into the late 80s'. Fountain Avenue Brooklyn N.Y. was the place to be on weekend nights.

  • SWEET LOOKING BUT MAN A 305!!!!!:(

  • @TheFATBOYCHRIS

DUDE! who cares if its a 5L. This car is a classic piece of beautiful. 5L or 5.7L, its not going to win speed records against todays cars, but who gives a shit, these cars are amazing and just simply one of the most beautiful cars ever! BTW the 5L with the 5sp was pretty damn quick and was only slower than the 5.7 Auto by a couple tenths or so in the quarter mile.

  • @TheFATBOYCHRIS i got a 1991 pontiac trans am gta with 350 chevy :)

  • @TheFATBOYCHRIS I wanted the t-tops and 5 speed more than the 350 auto! I couldn't get the 350 with t-tops or 5 speed. So I got the 305 with only 5 horse power less and the 5 speed and the t-tops. I got what I wanted!

  • @trinella58 Nothing that a turbo won't fix. I'm running a 76 turbo on my tuned port 305, and at just 15-psi it gives me low elevens in the 1/4 mile without even breaking a sweat. Plus, I get much better gas mileage than the average L98. You got what you wanted, and you made a great choice. Take care of her, and good luck with it....

  • @trinella58 it was the correct choice!

  • @trinella58 Actually you could get the 350 and T-Tops... Only 90-92 F-Bodies didn't have 350/Ttop options (except the 91-92 Formula, which offered 350 and TTops.).

  • @dante04srt Not in Canada! I tried for the 350 with T-TOPS was not allowed so I settled for the 305 manual with T-Tops.

  • @trinella58 they didnt make many 350s wit the t tops cauze the torque from the 350 wld twist the body up

  • @trinella58 mine is 350 auto w/ TTops. best car i've ever driven

  • @TheFATBOYCHRIS The LB9 is a great engine with much torque. A LB9 with 5 speed m/t will beat everey stock L98 automatic F-Body! Great car, great engine: We had the same in black/black... my Dad sold it when I was 9 years old... It´s hard to find a great US-V8 in germany... but now I made a dream real: 1991 Corvette L98 with 6 speed m/t... I wish you very much fun with this GREAT CAR!!!

  • @TheFATBOYCHRIS 305 aint nothin but a couple millimeters less on each cylinder, same block, only 15 hp less, big deal

  • Beautiful car. I have an 87 Trans Am, 305 TPI 5 speed manual. No tops though. Same color with the light silver on the bottom. I have 21,8xx miles and no rust, even on the undercarriage. Oh, and I have the other wheels.

They are beautiful cars, good luck with it. You are better off hanging on to it!

  • omg nice ride the rims himselfs cost $700... unrestored...nice

  • What a beauty, nice that your keeing her. By far the nicest colour ever put on a Trans Am Gta or any TA for that matter.

  • I forgot about those bad ass power seat with those headrests and all those buttons on the steering wheel, Digital Dash WOW Man THAT ENGINE BAY SPOTLESS,, well played, keep that baby I MEAN SELL IT TO ME LOL. ONE QUESTION THAT LITTLE RED LED LIGHT NEXT TO THE STEERING WHEEL MY CAR HAS ONE TWO WAS THAT A FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM??

  • when you were going to sell it how much were you going to get for it in this condition? i dont want to buy it i just want to know the price you would get for such a nice car.

  • what exhaust system do you have? F body FTW

  • @aqualordx93 They are Flowmasters dual exhaust. My wife hears me coming down the street and opens the garage door before I get home!!! lol

  • That thing is in PERFECT CONDITION i havent seen one like that in years!

  • @arctyler Thank You!

  • Looks really clean

  • Nice car w/dreadful music.

  • @mahmahmonkey .... I had zz top ....."leggs" but youtube made me take it off....copy write infringement or something silly like that.

  • Dude this car is awesome. BUT you have the front wheels on the back, and the back wheels on the front. they are different offsets. yours are backwards. might want to fix that. it will get rid of that scrubbing sound when you turn the wheel all the way. trust me

  • @XXEATXXSHITXX......? huh... what are you taking about? They don't rub and they are on correct! The car drive perfectly !

  • doin t sell it don t do it dont

  • why would you want a 88 TA if your gunna get one why not get a sweet 70s version

  • @jabe54 been there ..... done that..... I will stick with my 88.... Its a lot more fun to drive!

  • music........

  • Spot on Dude!! Your car is super sweet and looks rare with all the options u have!! Who did your exhaust?? Hell, where did you find it?? I wish they made more options for tires for our cars

  • @f1620mm Well.... I special ordered it in Dec 1987 and it came delivered to my dealership in Feb1988. The Exhaust was put on locally by a friend who owns a muffler shop here in Winnipeg. They are FLOW MASTERS dual exhaust and they sound ..... well...my wife and neighbours here me coming home down the street. So much so that my wife opens the garage door for me before I get a chance to hit the door opener button. Its become a joke around the neighbourhood now.

  • Such an awesome car, looks very similar to mine :D

  • Hi... Thanks for keeping this car. Its just the greatest 3rd Gen ever built... 305 TPI with T-Tops and 5 speed manual transmission an the U52 digidash! Please, never sell this car and be good to him :) Greetings from Germany

  • @beginsends ... You know your T/A's!!! Would you believe someone had the nerve to post here that my car was a fake? He said they never came with 5 speed and that I put it in afterwards.... Not! I still have the build sheet from the factory!

  • @trinella58 This is the biggest shit I´ve ever heard... The 350 TPI was built with A/T only, the 305 TPI was available with A/T AND the 5 speed M/T. We had an ´88 Trans Am with the 305 TPI and five speed M/T from 1996 to 1998. It made a lot of fun. More than a 350 with M/T... I believe you: Your Trans Am is an original 5-speed Trans Am. I wish, I could have one like your´s ;)

  • @trinella58 sooo the gta with the 305 TPI, T-Tops, 5 speed stick and digital dash is the rarest outa all the GTAs right or is there more options that came with it back in the day?

  • @chandlerdf the only other option i could of checked off was the leather interior. Otherwise I got them all!

  • I kept my high school car too many memories in my 1992 Z-28 which I now share with family.. Don't sell keep...restore

  • it used to be my dream car

  • You'd be crazy to get rid of that car...

  • where is the MSD ignition mounted at on ur car?

  • @camaro88iroc .... its mounted on the firewall on the passenger side.

  • @trinella58 stil have the gta

  • I have a 97 trans am but I wish I could have one of these babys

  • i had a 1989 gta i loved that car. my was red 5.7 700R4 with 373 in the rear T-TOPs and the 50/50 rear seat. I by the kit light for the car then the GTA goe's byby let it RIP 5/31/06

  • I so can't wait till I get mine road ready again. I love my 5.7l V8 GTA

  • she's real clean. can't wait to restore my 87

  • Beautiful car, man! I had an '88 Flame Red GTA too with the 5.7, Beechwood leather interior, but no digital dash or t-tops though. I traded it for a black '91 GTA, which I later traded for a black '97 WS6 TA that I still have. Now I have a black '92 GTA which I'll never get rid of.

  • Thanks Carlos! I have it sitting in my garage waiting for the spring when I can take it out again! Planning on taking it on a tour through the Black Hills next summer.

  • sweet car.

  • DAMN I miss my 1986 Trans AM... you have my 1st Dream Car & i own my 2nd Dream Car a 1993 Trans Am. you should keep it the family as long as posible.

  • God, what a GORGEOUS GTA!

  • nice

  • I have a black one :)

  • Yes! Very nice car!!!

    You live your dream!!!!!!

  • factory dual cats, digital dash, 4 wheel disk, 5spd, and a 5.0 with a 5.7 stock cam! this is a verry verry verry verry rare car! she is absolutely amazing! this car will b worth alot!!!! keep her safe there dying every day

  • What a terrific Vid!! Fantastic car too. That can't possibly be the factory original paint looking that good ,is it? KEEP IT!!!

  • hI seeder36

Yes that is original! Too bad nobody made me an offer... I am going to keep it now. I am getting more compliments now than ever before! I guess it will be a classic soon....!

  • looks crazy!

    love it forever!

  • Nice car. I had an '88 Hardtop in black. I miss it (got wrecked) :(

After having an 84 t-top, I don't think I would ever get a 3rd Gen with t-tops again. Just too weak (structurally).

Also, the 5-speed isn't worth losing the L98, IMO. ;)

Glad to see it's being kept in good shape and held on to though. Keep doing it and enjoy the hell out of it. B-)

  • Thank you for your comments. The T-Top issue did concern me since I increased the horsepower. I ended up re-inforcing the frame with frame connectors and man what a difference it made! I take corners with ease and don't worry about twisting the frame. It was well worth the investment. I am getting more compliments now than I ever had. These cars are getting more rare in time. Thats why I decide to keep it. Still fun after all these years! Cheers!

  • Yeah, Pontiac was really ahead of it's time. That bastard Bob Putz & that no-good communist that stole an election via fraud from beginning to end, stabbed us all in the back.

But I digress...don't give in to temptation to sell it. Keep it for the right reasons - because it's a great car. :) I've always called the GTAs the American DB7.

SFCs are a must with any gen f-body. But even w/out, the GTAs handled amazingly. I remember my stock GTA being more planted than my stock 02 WS6 T/A.

  • i have an 87 t/a 5.7, but it is not as clean as this. mine has a few scuffs and scratches, and needs a new spoiler, but your car is beautiful, i must say. i hope mine will look like it soon

  • Hello, I Am of Mexicali B.C Mexico, if even you have the Trans Am I am interested in it(him, her, you) Since(As,Like) We Contact

  • Is this still for sale?

  • since it was posted last year, i highly doubt it :x

  • i just bought a 87 carbed 305 and i noticed when i put it in gear it goes in gear hard. i was wondering if theres something i should check or if its just the nature of the beast. also i had it in drive in my gravel driveway with the brake in and the tire started spinning and i wasnt pressin the gas. I think it may need the brakes bled. what does everybody think about these concerns

  • 1st problem is just the way these cars are.

2nd, there may be air in the brake line.

  • damn that sure is alot of buttons on the steering wheel !

  • i havent much else to say except this is probably the most beautiful car i have ever seen

  • Thanks....

  • The standard powerplant for the Trans Am GTA was the L98 5.7-liter (5.7ltr) V8 (RPO B2L). This engine was not available with a manual transmission due to emissions certification and the prodigious amount of torque it produced, so the 5.0-liter TPI V8 (RPO LB9) was available as a credit option in the GTA. This engine was an automatic or manual transmission, at the buyer's discretion. The LB9/5-speed transmission combo was cheaper by $300! I was one the 809 people who choose this option!

  • nice car but it's not a real GTA. they only came in auto. they never made them with a manual tranny.

  • Yea right....GO do your research.

  • Of course they did lol. My 1990 GTA came equipped from the factory w/5-speed, T-Tops, and LB9 (305-TPI). The only models that didn't come with a 5-speed were the L98's (350's), and even then some made actually found their way out from the factory, but they're rare....

  • Sweet Man! this car is my favorite in the world because my dad owns a gta 1988 Tans am black with gold on the bottom and gold in the inside with digtal dash. I grew up with my dad's car and even though I'm sixteen I still think it's the best car in the world!.

  • Why would you sell your baby after all this time ?? :(

  • how much dude. im the biggest fan of T/As!!! :D

  • I've got two for sale

  • Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

  • where do you live bro?

  • Makes me a little sad to see only 64,000 miles on a car this beautiful, but them I think it wouldn't be in such great condition otherwise. Seems like you checked every box on the option sheet, as well.

Hope it sells to a worthy buyer.

  • que onda carnal en donde en que parte de usa lives????

  • very nice car man,, whoever bought it got a clean car =D

  • Yes most of it is original, I did re-paint the passengers side front due to a dent i caused driving into my garage.

  • why do you want to sell this sweet sweet ride?

  • I want to sell it because I am looking for a new car and I do have a 66 Mustang as well. Too many toys!

  • Ok that makes sense, sad that it has to be the Trans-am.

  • Is there anything different about your Trans Am since you are in Canada versus a 1988 Trans Am GTA purchased in the United States?

  • Anything different? Like what? Its a GM product. We are in different country's but the cars are all made the same! So i guess in answer to your question NO!

  • i am in LOVE i couldnt stop watching the video from the second it started ahhhhh what power is it putting out? and dont let this car go you WILL regret it

  • dammmmmmmmmmmm

  • how much and do you still have it? God that looks INCREDIBLE. LOVE HOW YOU KEPT EVERYTHING ORIGINAL.

  • nice dude a winnipeg car check my ta out its a ws6 love thoes cars

  • so how much are u asking for this bad boy?

  • when i drove my car to mexico in 94 everybody said that my car looked better than a 92 yellow vette targa top that was also running around down there...sex on wheels!!!!!!

  • lol.... I will bring it out of hybernation for you!

  • i still have this exact car but it needs serious tlc...ohh the memories, i want this car

  • is this still available as of 12/21/08

  • It's a 5 speed.

  • My dad owns a blue 1990 With t-tops. V8 engine and it is standerd. 5.0 LITER just like yours.

  • Nice Gta. One question, why you selling it? It's a really nice car.

    P.S. What is the song

  • Legs by ZZ TOP. REASON i am selling... to I have had it since new, and I have too many toys. Time for something new. Getting to old for it i guess... lol...

  • Oh forgot to ask, does it have a cd player?

  • No I kept everything original. I play my cd player, mp3, ipod etc through the cassette player.

  • With an external connecting cord or jack type thing?

  • I have a cassette adaptor with cord or I use a wireless fm transmitter they both sound great.

  • Especially in winnipeg ;)

  • How much is it?

  • I had an '88 Hard Top GTA with the 5.7 in black. God I miss that car. :(

But I can't complain too much, I have to say that I like my '02 WS6 T/A even better. B-)

  • a buddy of mine had that identical car in high school paint, wheels, t-tops but his had recaro seats. 15 yrs later i'm tryin to find one but a bit pricey for one that nice!

  • Nice nice nice looks just like mine except mine has 68000 miles.

  • That is one of my all time favortie trans am model ever made, beautiful car man! My 93' Grand prix is similar with the radio controls on the steering wheel and rims but that thing would eat my gp lol but gorgeous T/A man

  • While I can understand that you like to pamper it, I'd probably gun it ALL the time. I'd drive that thing harder than a nail. I

  • Awesome looking car dude, Im sure you wont have any problems selling it. :D

  • Thanks... I hate to part with it! But I have too many toys.

  • what other kind of vehicles do you have?

  • I have a 66 mustang gt convert.(red, black pony interior with white top) with only 12,000 on the resto. An RV, cadillac, toyota tundra, just sold a cadillac catera, a 2008 nissan sentra, a 2005 mazda gt 3. and this trans am. They dont get driven enough...lol.

  • Do you still have the 88 GTA for sale, if so email me. Thanks damon
