How does this stock hold up to buckshot and slugs? I have a UAG collapsible stock and whenever I put a few rounds of 3" 00 buck through it, the bolt holding the stock to the separate pistol grip comes loose and renders the gun useless until I completely take it apart, tighten the bolt and put it back together again. I want a collapsible stock but need to find one that won't give me this problem. Also, do you recommend the ATI heat shield with ghost ring sights on it? I'm considering getting one.
@hckrwolf Haven't tried buckshot or slugs yet. I can't really recommend any of the ATI products. They've all performed really poorly, other than the stock I mentioned in the video.
when somebody dreak into your house it aint gone matter about hiw it fells its just gone be about whats gone get the job done thats why you got the gun to save your life not about how it feels u want sumthin with power not just because u like how it fells
Nice shotgun brother but I prefer the norinco do some research it's actually made with better steel then the remington not to mention that the norinco
This shotgun doesn't have any rails or any place to put any sights, scopes, or lights. Are there any accessories out there that work with this particular gun?
Thank God, another person with the same "Security" model. This one doesn't seem to exist on the website, the closest they have is the Express Synthetic, but the magazine doesn't go past the barrel, and the cocking foregrip looks different. Do you know if this thing is good for shooting slugs?
@archenemyowns Yes, the side saddle was separate. I can't remember their exact prices or names, but the saddle was around 10 bucks and the stock was maybe 15. It's just a regular ATI telescoping stock.
great review, im still trying to decide between the remington and moseberg, adn your right remington feels more solid, but the people in the store are telling me it has a greater recoil, i dont know if this is true or not i doubt so but how much would you say the recoil is? and how much does the pistol grip help with it
@KaiserPotatoe95 Recoil is very manageable but hey it is a shotgun. Having a pistol grip reduces a lot of shock to your shoulder, but even with a regular stock it's not that bad. If you get a 20-gauge it's even lighter.
@wilkbor The stock doesn't necessarily reduce recoil, but it does make it a lot more manageable because you can take a lot of the force in your hand through the pistol grip, instead of taking it all in the shoulder.
It sounds to me like you may have mounted the heatshield incorrectly. I have the same shield on my mossberg 500 my mossberg 590 and on my benelli m4 and haven't had any problems with them. There is a plastic spacer that prevents them from moving and it seems to me that yours wasn't installed. I do thank you for the break down of the 870.
@GundamGuy777 I think the Mossberg has a thread or something that allows the shield to be secured in the way you said. I remember reading something about the Remington not being able to do this.
Nice shotgun i agree ,But i have to say i had a Knoxx Spec-ops stock on mine and i would never use anything else ,I have heard bad things about ATI ,but if it works for you then thats good ,Check out my shooting video i did with my wife ,who by the way really enjoyed using the 12g with Knoxx set up and she hates guns ,anyway nice review and i'm with you all the way (except for the stock sorry)
The Remington home defense only comes in eighteen inch, that's why it's a "home defense edition" and the mag extension does not protrude past the twenty inch, I have both barrels on the exact gun
@zaraa03 i have and 18 inch, yours is 20 the mag extension on yours is too long to be an 18 inch barrel, plus on twenty inch barrels the mag extension protrudes farther than the barrel, wich is whats your is doing, plus in your description it says 8 shot capacity, for 18 inch barrels with the mag tube is 7 2 3/4 shells and 6 3 inch shells max, i can tell just by looking
@Chucknorristothemaxx i own that same gun, i was just trying to correct him, then he tries to play me out, still telling me its 18 inches, i dont like smoke blown up my ass,and since you hate haters i guess we're all a bunch of haters then, have a nice day buddy
the remington will last a LOT longer than the mossberg, because the mossberg is made out of aluminum to cut down on costs. and they both preform the same, you made a wise choice in shotguns.
I just bought the exact same gun put about 200 rounds through it and the ejector rail which holds the ejector spring broke :(

@zaraa03 Hmm.... Alright, thanks for the info. I'll have to find a stock that can deal with the recoil.

@zaraa03 By the way, how much did this stock cost and where did you find yours?
hckrwolf 2 months ago
@hckrwolf It was about 18 bucks or so if I recall correctly. Got it on ebay but they sell them at regular gun stores too

Should i get the laminated wood stalk for $310? Or the sinthetic stalk for $320
kitward24 4 months ago
@kitward24 Wood is better looking for some, but synthetic doesn't warp. Your preference really.

Has a milled firing pin and extractor opposed to the remington 870 express that has a compressed aluminum powder firing pin and extractor.

@bluehawk2121 I don't have any experience with black powder rifles but I imagine the recoil is probably similar.
