@niamhorourke - it doesn't really "mean" a word, per-se - it's from the New Orleans "Mardi Gras Indian" musical tradition. It's a chant that the Indians sang when they marched - as well as songs like Iko Iko, Indian Red, Fiyo On The Bayou, etc... It's hard to explain it all here, you should do a internet search on Mardi Gras Indians for a full explanation - hope that helped. Cheers & ALLEZ LE BON TEMPS ROULLEZ.... : o)
That's Mean Willie Green on the big drumset behind Cyril Neville...one unbelievable drummer...I saw the Neville's do this song as a slow boogie roll...I'll never forget it. Big Chief Jolly!
Dig, brother! I was there too! Also Audubon Park now and then. Sadly I had to move from the Easy in 1976 but make a beeline back whenever I can. Gotta have me some beans, rice and mudbugs with a little Dixie Beer to wash it down!
Somebody please tell this uninformed Irishwoman what "pocky way" means. Please?
