god emagin that boiling oil in a wound jesus christ surgery in those days was barbaric I could only think what the poor bastards went through but besides all that there was not mutch of a mortality rate anyhow it must of been terrorble to of been operated on in those times before opiates was invented for pain all they had was whisky to sort of dull the pain and that was it nothing else must of been auful.
