@pimnas yeah that was my experience a year ago when I tried this. Lousy community full of asshats, no actual "Noob" games where you can learn without getting bitched at. Everybody expects you to be an expert on day one. The game itself is fun, but definitely not user friendly, and the tutorial woefully inadequate.
Everything comes with practice. As much as the community sucks, nothing can teach you better than personal experience through trial and error.
As long as you understand what's going on, you'll gradually get better at what you do, and you'll get better at being aware of what you're doing- and being generally aware of the game around you.
Most DotA-game players aren't horrible people, they're just partied with friends and BM because they're laughing it off in person.

Download LoL and get your summoner to lvl 30. LoL is way easier for a noob to begin playing and by the time you're lvl 30 you will have a pretty good understanding of the dota genre!

@stiksization Not really, LoL teaches you nothing about playing DOTA or HoN well, playing LoL means you get good at LoL, which, contrary to popular belief, is an EXTREMELY different game with different mechanics and stuff (IE: AP and AD rather than Attributes)
@Telanhzan both games are good, some differences and similarities, i play both, and from what i know, LoL is a easier to play game, much better if you dont wanna go full out on a game, and HoN is a very complicated game, maybe too complicated, when i started i didnt know how to buy the right stuff, reason being its just too complicated.

@stiksization One problem, you'll be used to LoL mechanics. You'll expect gold and xp when you won't get it from denies. I only played dota briefly and was never a great last hitter/deny... I forgot most of that stuff when I played LoL and now finding it hard to break old habits.
Most people play aggressively early on in HoN whereas they play defensively in LoL.

@244547 But, LoL and HoN are just stand alone versions of DotA that was based on the Aeon of Strife SC map. And people who worked on DotA did go on to work on LoL, HoN, and DotA2. Only other game that I could find is even remotely linked is Herzog Zwei.
I play both games LoL is more strategic and HoN is more reactionary. You have to be a better player to be good at HoN but you need to be smarter to be good at LoL. Take your pick.

@KrhamXMoviemakers If you played ranked at high elo in LoL you'd know that it can be pretty competitive too.
Also I didn't mean that you are automatically good at hon if you are lvl 30 in lol. I simply recommended players that are new to the whole dota type of game to try to get into lol first. That is my opinion since i think hon has a WAY steeper learning curve than lol.

@stiksization Not really, LoL teaches you nothing about playing DOTA or HoN well, playing LoL means you get good at LoL, which, contrary to popular belief, is an EXTREMELY different game with different mechanics and stuff (IE: AP and AD rather than Attributes)

@Telanhzan both games are good, some differences and similarities, i play both, and from what i know, LoL is a easier to play game, much better if you dont wanna go full out on a game, and HoN is a very complicated game, maybe too complicated, when i started i didnt know how to buy the right stuff, reason being its just too complicated.
People should shut the fuck up and just enjoy the only you preffer

@stiksization One problem, you'll be used to LoL mechanics. You'll expect gold and xp when you won't get it from denies. I only played dota briefly and was never a great last hitter/deny... I forgot most of that stuff when I played LoL and now finding it hard to break old habits.
Most people play aggressively early on in HoN whereas they play defensively in LoL.

Well I still dont understand why some ppl still play LoL (Im not saying about Dota cause is an good but old game...)...LoL is really bas game..we low design and so bad graphic!!! @244547 But, LoL and HoN are just stand alone versions of DotA that was based on the Aeon of Strife SC map. And people who worked on DotA did go on to work on LoL, HoN, and DotA2. Only other game that I could find is even remotely linked is Herzog Zwei.
