  • i want one!!

  • Seriously did you just use WoW as demonstration of GPU power?....

  • but will it blend?

  • Hello , when i run world of warcraft on ultra i have about 30-40 FPS. But then it always randomly drops down to 1 fps. I usually change to low at that time but i still run it in about 3-10 fps. After a while it goes up to maybe 80 fps, and then i keep the settings on low, and after a while it goes back to 3-10 fps. It's really annoying when i'm playing bg's and such because i can't do shit.

  • another hot WoW female character turns out to be a guy!...*sigh* :D :P :D

  • hey !!! nice video man!i've got an hp pavilion dv5 and wow run pretty good

  • you realize this is not a gaming laptop, right?

it is a mobile workstation, made for cad, cg, and simulations.

that is why it has a quadroFX card instead of GeForce

  • @Ronnie51026 ,

I think I said that in the video. I also did say that I use it for "work" This computer plays games better then the Studio XPS

  • Its a very good and powerfull notebook, I recommend it.

  • it's the noisiest laptop that I have had ever. I have had 2 Dell Latitude and one macbook pro 17". I don't recommend this laptop

  • World of warcraft is the worst example to show benchmark. Any lag experienced in the game has to do with internet connection and server stress more than any gpu and cpu capabilities.

  • The toasty part is coming from the GPU heat. Pretty sure the GPU is placed in such a way that any workload (such as a game) causes it to build up heat and the heat has very few means of escaping. Notice the difference between ventilation on the bottom of the M4400 and the M6400. Huge difference.

  • 1.what type of video card is in there?

    2. Would a dell insprion 15 be good for wow?

  • Hell, this was a really nice video ! Thx for uploading, as there are not so many videos about this particular laptop.

Now, you seem to say upgrading to FX1700M is useless, huh ?

If you ever get the time to do another small vid, could you please show us a word (or text) document so we can evaluate the size of letters ?

I know my idea could sound weird, but would it be viable to change the display to 1680*1050, or does the quality suffers too much ?

Thx again, I'm running out of characters ^^'

  • (by display i mean resolution of course. This would allow to have more space than on the 1440x version).

  • it would look really bad. all fuzzy, un-readable almost. like any LCD, it would be all non-clear when your looking at it. Same thing with my desktop monitor running at 2560x1600, if i change it to 1920x1200 etc the text wouldn't be so clear. All LCD's are the same. I hope this helps some, oh btw about the video card, its just an overclocked version of the 770M, you can OC the 770 to run at the same speed as the 1770 less the 400 bucks....

  • how do you like the 1920 resolution on a 15.4 screen? I am looking at this pc t

  • its really small, however if your eyes are good, you will get used to it, however its small... I use the computer on a dock with a dell 24" , so when traveling, I put up with the small size. However I wouldnt of ordered it any different. the LED display is amazing :)

  • it looks like a sweet pc, I am thinking of ordering a refurbished one. I really want the RGB LED

  • I think i would die, because when i had a 15,4 with 1680x1050 - i almost died.

  • It's more or less meant for Maya and other 3D software so you can display multiple menu's at the same time, it's not really worth it for games. You can get better laptops for less money than this one.

  • On a 15.4 1920x is really small, however at list its really small, but then you get used to it. If you have a hard time seeing things, then dont get the 1920x go 1440x . The max rez they should have done should be the 1680x whatever, but then again, like me, if you dock this computer and plan on using a 24" monitor, 1920x is just fine...

  • Thats great, If had the same one could I run m-audio interface and Vamp Pro or Line6 Pro to record guitar

  • hey i had a question...is the touchpad glossy (you know, kinda like the newer hp laptops) or is more of a "matte" feel....

im just worried b/c i want to get this and the hp laptop's touchpad gets hard to use if your hands are moist or the room in even the slightest bit humid

    thanks

  • Is it possible to overclock the processor?

  • I play WoW as well and this is incredible. It runs better than my desktop (sad isn't it?) My question is regarding the battery in the back, does the amount it sticks out bug you at all? It seems pretty large.

  • Is it possible to buy a BD ROM for this model? I know it's not an option on the website but I know the media bay can fit all different types of modules.

  • I am not sure, call dell and ask them

  • You can, but it's a $500 upgrade. :(

  • how does it do with other games? have you had any trouble with drivers?

  • I haven't tried any other games, I also havent had any problems with the drivers. Also have windows 7 installed , and all is working well, no problems.

  • Nice video thanks for uploading . The game it self looks perfect the graph speed etc .

Since u posted this video have you had any problems ?

ive always been unsure about laptops but i do want one .

Was thinking of getting Dell xps 630 or 730 do you have any idea about them ? thanks

  • no problems at all playing games. The XPS is very heavy, so if you get that, then ditch your desktop. XPS isnt something you can lug around, its really a desktop replacement. This computer has been great, only thing i would say, if you have the money get the 17"

  • Thanks for the reply . I have heard before about the weight of the XPS before . Is this laptop really just as good as a desktop ? what size screen is that one ?

    Thank you

  • Yeah because 6 pounds is way to much to lug around right?

  • I think he's talking about the 17" Dell XPS laptop which is like coming close to 8 pounds. Dell also used to sell a 20.1" laptop, but it was discontinued...

  • Got it last week. You cant have this thing on your lap more than 10 it gets so hot that you will literally sweat off your pants! Also I work on CAD applications and the vent is on full gear most of the time .... I paid almost 3000 to get top configuration and honestly for this money I am disappointed. At least the heat engineering is not great

Also backlite is an option for this machine?I did not relize this until our IT had already bought this and I really needed to have it, Dell what happend?

  • that is odd, mine doesnt get hot at all unless your gaming or something. I can watch a movie in bed and heat isnt a problem. Please note that I live in hawaii, No AC in my home......

  • Well as I said am using CAD applications and usually have music playing at same time too. Is it possible that something is wrong with my laptop and I should call Dell?

  • I have it and run amazing on everything that I have put in it :D Games and software.
