.... As explained many times, the problem is not my computer, but rather some weird connection between fraps and rome total war (but I have fixed the problem now: check out my later videos (last pontos chronicle)
You could do that, but in my opinion I find it too boring... the spanish are too easy to beat. Also if you don't kill rome early, they'll get very powerful and send endless stacks to attack you. Also the roman provinces give good income. BUT saying that, this is a total war game, and the beauty of them is that there are endless options for how you want to play your campaign...
You can download a version for Barbarian Invasion, somewhere from the total war forums. I saw it once before, but I can't remeber when/where. All I remeber is that it was a new thread, on the total war forums (and where all the mods are located).
I'm using the latest xvid codec and if I set the quality to 3 (1 is best) I can get 10min 720p video to little bit over 200mb. So I'd say .wmv is quite ok in compression.
I can understand how you can have 720p by recording at up to 1680x1050, but 1080p? How is that possible. The highest I can go is 1050 horizontal lines as noted above, so that'll be 720p, not 1080. I'm assuming you have a large monitor that allows you to go higher.
But your campaign map can't be larger than 1280x1024 px. Is there something I am missing, or does YouTube playback the 1024 as 1080 horizontal lines? It's not overly important, but coming from a technical standpoint (as well as my background in film and photography) I can't help but ask this.
you pretty much have the same idea as i had when i played with carthage although i used my elephants for taking sicilly then disbanded them, I also took the rest of africa first because its all rebel citys which give nice income also in spain theres another faction your probably gonna go to war with because they want control of spain which is also all rebels apart from there 1 city i think it is
You can't use the elephants that much in sicily, because syracuse has stone walls :( but thanks for the tip anyway. The faction in spain is the lusotanna, and you start allied to them, so they shouln't be too much of a problem early on. Also I find it takes too long to take over africa, because of the long distances.
Also just a FYI for everyone, I have played this campaign before, but on normal.

@Randomer379xxxVideos yeah, that'd have to be a really sucky computer to lag on rtw.

Currently I don't really have much time, and in any case, I'm more of a campaign player (although I have got EB online working already). Sorry :S

i wouldn't attack Rome so quickly, i would get an alliance with phyrrus, and campaign in Spain, and fortify my islands.

Bocchoris is probably the easiest to defend.. a small island surrounded by water. You can always retreat to it when youre losing youre empire.
Legolasas26 1 year ago
It'd be pretty desperate if you need to fall back to a little island :S
Hopefully when I continue this campaign I won't have such problems.

@phoenixking321 EB 1.2 version can be used with RTW 1.5 exe/ BI 1.6 exe and even with Alexander 1.9 exe.
you should look on the forums for step by step thing on how to use Barbarian invasion(BI)".exe"
i think you just need to change EB launcher shortcut: RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:eb -nm -show_err
i'm using BI exe on my campaign (more naval invasion etc ...)
hope it helps

Same here randomer, i use xfire to record and the file size for 10mins is like 4gb, i then have to shrink it down and delete once put on youtube.
LordofPontus 1 year ago
That's not much. What with do you encode them?
GameOk456 2 years ago
I'd say that is pretty big, I mean, it could be a lot smaller if I made the quality less (and I doubt that anybody watches it in 1080).
To get this quality I publish from WMM at best quality for this computer - and it encodes it as .wmv and about 350MB (for a 10min video).

What is the size of these 1080p videos when you upload them? Do you edit them?
GameOk456 2 years ago
Let's not talk about that :P
Let's just say, big (250 -400 MB)
Randomer379xxxVideos 2 years ago
lags a lot but its probably just the recording program :P
F1zzzy90 2 years ago
If you look at my napoleon videos - this is fixed. It was some weird combination of RTW and fraps that caused the low frame rates.

I don't know much about this, but:
1. my computer is widescreen, 17 inch
2. i set the game to widescreen mode
3. i set the game to highest resolution
I think that should solve your problem

There is some major lag , it should get checked out
RoyalAnarchist 2 years ago
HAHA, it's not lag, it's the framerates, which, I might add, hate me in RTW (always goes to 3/4 fps when recording).
But It's not my computer, because I easily get high fps on ETW.
