I just got a Harmony Archtop at a yard sale for $25. However it has no Harmony (or any other) brand name or logo on the headstock, with #S2922 inside. I about fainted when I saw it- I had one 30 years ago and loved it, but it got destroyed. It has no wear at all on the frets or fretboard-
I have a question or two about determining it's age- it looks like a Master, it has celluloid bindings on all edges as well as the neck, celluloid dot markers on the fretboard, and encapsulated 3-in-line tuners
@connberkshire I checked the Harmony Guitar Database, and as close as I can tell, it was made between 1950-60- the tuners are art-deco style and have "Deluxe" stamped on them, and it has a hinged trapeze tailpiece, rather than the fixed style on most Harmonys. I also thought it may have been a prototype or one-off of some kind due to the lack of a logo. It looks like a H945 Master, but has the dots. It has a great tone, but the action is high, and the frets need dressed- I love this guitar...
There are lots of these on ebay. Unfortunately, most of them need some sort of repair. I have about a dozen nice Harmony, Kay and Silvertone archtops that I'm getting ready to list in the next two weeks. I suggest that you look me up on ebay and mark me as one of your ' favorite sellers'. Then, you can come back in a week or so and start watching my auctions. My ebay ID (name) is gibbonsguitaremporium. Thanks
