Remington 597 Modification Part 3 :: Picatinny Rail Installation

DO you know anything about trigger jobs or aftermarket competitive shooting mods. I just purchased a 597 laminate stock heavy barrel model with bipod its nice but i would love to get the trigger done would appreciate feed back. and like the videos and the intro screens LOL

@ferdin12 its not useless i have a russian sks and a 597. Im not going squirrel or rabbit hunting with a 7.62x39 cal round .22s are good small game rifles

do you have to cut out some of the stock to get the picatinny rail to go on?

@Lmawp I don't think you would absolutely have to. I did so the rail would mount flush with the stock. It's all personal preference.

@mightyquinn1102 It's funny you ask that... I just mailed off my Remington stock to be Duracoated 6 days ago. Whenever the stock shows up I'll immediately do an unboxing video and review. Just check back in a couple weeks and hopefully it will be back by then... take care.

@ChrisreadIRL I'm going to be completely honest with you, I've never shot it left handed. I can only guess but I would think you would be ok. Again, you would have to ask someone who has actually shot it left handed to get a definite answer.

@dannenoob I haven't shot the Remington M 597 yet but i heard it was crap, and it often jam... My all time favorite 22 rifle would have to be the Marlin Model 795.

When i first got my Marlin model 795 i took it to the range and put 400 + slugs through the barrel with zero malfunction !...The barrel was so hot that the synthetic stock actually started to pull away from the barrel !

I like Ruger, but I Love Marlin !.........Remington ?, not even worth mentioning !

I got this rifle 12 years ago when I was 15 or so. I got it to shoot small game which it did without any malfunctions. I have Ak's and AR's that I load before I go to sleep, my Remington is a hobby gun that stays in the safe. Sorry if my Remington upsets you so much, but thanks for stopping by.

While I'm pretty sure you can stop someone if you light em up with a .22 a few times, there are much better rounds for the job. The best home defense gun I've ever seen is a shortened 12 guage pump shotgun. You don't have to be overly accurate, it wont go through the walls and kill the neighbors. The guy just kinda sounded like a troll or an opinionated kid talking about something he knows nothing about.

@HistoryHmoobGuy If you are specifically talking about the 597 it is justified. 597s did have some issues. I have one and have shot multiple. If you are talking about remington in general you are a moron. Does Remington 700 or 870 ring a bell. Two of the best firearms in the history of the US. @MustyYetisTacticalHQ if this makes you happy im happy for you. Some people just like giving other people a hard time with things they've "heard."

Nice setup! I just picked up the Remington 597 VTR with A-TACS camo, pretty friggin' sweet! Question, where did you get those stickers again for the mag? Cant wait to see what will look like when you get the camo done! When will it be done?

@usmcgrunt02 Well like I told Kirk, I'm hydro dipping my Remington so I have to wait for the weather to warm up. I got snow last week so I still have some pretty cold temperate. Once it gets warmer I'll be getting the stock dipped. How are you liking the Remington 597??? I made the stickers myself, I have a vinyl cutter so it was a small little project. They worked out great and will definitely be doing it to future magazines.

It snowed yesterday which isn't conducive to working with paints. Hopefully it will warm up soon so I can get it dipped. Just check back in a little it and see if I have gotten to it yet. Take care.

People kept telling me to leave the hunting rifle (not sure that's what a .22 rifle is) alone with the scope on it. Will you be uploading a video of it??? If so keep me posted.

@MustyYetisTacticalHQ its a BSA. very accurate, i took it out shooting today and got 4of 5 on my target at 80 yards standing. that was my best all day though. didnt have a full mag either. but if youd like i can post a picture vid. go ahead and sub if youd like
