Birds eat birds for the same reason that mammals eat mammals. For example, wolves eat deer. Falcons do NOT eat their own species - they eat other species of birds. Also this is a bat, which is not a bird, but a mammal, very similar to a mouse or flying squirrel. Very few animals eat their own species, one noteable exception being bull frogs.
