Will the Garmin Etrex Vista HCx allow me to create a route automatically, simply by telling it where I want to go and it will display the route on screen, following the streets from point A to point B. My current Garmin Venture Hc will not unless I input waypoints along the way.
Mine does, but I had to load MetroGuide onto the unti to get all the streets - the HCx only shows major highways out of the box - not very useful. Once you have the MetroGuide uploaded, then you can accurately ask it to get you to point B from point A
Yes I see. It is possible to do it with regular Google Earth. Thank you very much for this video and explainations ;) I'll do it in Paris now (not the video but the traces!)
Yes but it seems GEP is very expensive... Is there any way to convert a map from GPS or MapSource to something understandable by Google ? After all it's just map coordinates... we could almost do it manually...
Actually, I made an error when I posted this video a while back - I had to upload the route into MapSource, then save the route as a gpx file (I think) then I used GEP to open the gpx file. I'm pretty sure you can open those types of files in regular google earth - you may not be able to create the movie.
Actually, all I did was import the route from the GPS staight into Google Earth Pro using GEP's GPS feature under the tools menu - it was pretty easy.
would you point me in the direction of how to pull google map bicycle trail data (that's highlighted in green) into a garmin etrex legend?

It's from the World of Goo Soundtrack from Kyle Gabler. The song title is "Red Carpet Extend-o-matic"
I think you can download the entire soundtrack for free

Do you know of anyway to allow the movie maker to follow the route at the alt of the gps? ie to actually fly down the track that was imported to GE?
