The guy who played lead guitar in this band later went on to star in an amazing show called 'Trailer Park Boys'. His name is Mike Smith, but the character he played in the show was named 'Bubbles'. Check it out :)
@tjackson76b I loved this song so much when it came out but never knew who did this song. on wiki, i learned the lead singer is the son of Anne Murray.- not a fan of her lol
I FuCkInG Love this song!!! I bought the cd when it came out. Too bad it didn;t come out on Vinyl. Kudos guys!! I'm gonna play it this Thursday in my set !!!
WHOA! I'm pretty constantly listening back into my past, but here's one I haven't heard in years. Too bad too--would fit just fine on modern Canadian rock playlists.
@metalskinstudios hahaha a couple of them laugh when i say samquanch but just because it sounds funny hahaha "he passed with flying fuckin carpets" ahahahaha that wasn't bubbles but that shit makes me laugh every time haha
These guys used to play every weekend at The Palace (last chance for romance) bar. They did awesome Pearl Jam covers. Rearviewmirror especially.
Mike (bubbles) was crackin a lot of jokes one night and out of the blue said, "Don't eat the brown acid". Dude, I had totally JUST taken the brown acid in the parking lot. Freaked me the fuck out. Good buzz though.
It's true, the drummer is actually Troy Shanks. Bubbles is a guitar player. The band consisted of Paul Murray on vocals, Mike Smith and Jason Archibald on guitar, Scott MacFarlane on bass and Troy Shanks on drums.
So true man, much music used to be my fav channel, do they even play music anymore? I stopped watching it complety, right about when pimp my ride and cribs came on. They should change there name from much music to lots of crap! Except music. Love that song though, it brings me back to a beautiful world we once knew! Thanks man.
Wow, I don't think I've heard this song or seen this video in at least 15 years. Canadian Gold, I say! Sad that MuchMusic wants to change their licensing so they don't have to air great Canadian music like this anymore, even at odd hours of the night---they'd rather make their money shilling shitty reality shows, like every other former music video station. *sigh*
hey guys i really like a song by this band, i believe its called "red" or something like that. i cant find it anywhere if any one knows what im talking about or has access to the music video id love it if u would post it. thanks.
Hey, are there any Canadians who remember Sandbox in their popularity who can vouch for how big they actually were in Canada? Like radioplay, tv play, hype, etc. and what not? And the same question goes for U.S folks. Thanks!
.They were pretty big for a few years but then broke up. They had a few songs that were always on Much Music for a while, this one was the biggest. They were on the radio a lot too. I don't know how they did in the US but I know they spent a lot of time down there. Why do u want to know?
Cuz their awesome, and I wasn't really old enough and aware enough to recognize them at the time. Just pure curiosity, nothing more, and theres not much written about them either
They had below average popularity from my perspective in the 90s. I only remember this tune getting moderate airplay for a little while and a few interviews with them. I still have one from Going Coastal in Halifax on VHS. It is kind of surreal watching it back and thinking this quiet rock guy ended up being a ridiculously funny character.
They were never as big as Matthew Good Band, Sloan, Tea Party, nor even the medium popularity of bands like Age of Electric, Limblifter, and The Odds.
Scott is still playing bass for different groups. Mike( Lead guitarist) is bubbles from TPB. Paul( Singer) last i heard was in sales for Pinty Bose the mail company out of toronto. Jason( Guitar) Is a doctor. Tony( Drummer) last time i was talking to scott tony was selling off most of his drum gear, But i don't know what tony is doing.
But i think we're gonna have to start a facebook group to give a "Fond Hello" to the band that we loved
Remember the Walton's and Weeping Tile from that year too? I think Sarah Harmer came from the weeping tiles. Jack Soul played at the Hangar that year too.
These guys played at AJ's Hangar in Kingston in '95/'96 I think. The guy told my friend the song was about his dog called "Curious" that ran away when he was a kid. I haven't heard this is years, until Ii heard that Bubbles plays guitar for it,lol. I wonder if he was there when we saw them...?
I supported Sandbox from their days as Sandbox Legacy, playing The Palace in Halifax. This was a very talented band, who could have gone far, had the circumstances aligned. Still love 'em.
I promoted this amazing band back when their "Bionic" cd came out in the mid 90's. I picked the disc out of about 300 that were on my desk. I always thought they were talented and would make great music. If anyone likes this song, pick up "Bionic", or their second and sadly, their final album, "Murder in the Glee Club"
Thats awesome, I never knew Bubbles was in this band. It makes sense now, I remember a few years ago when I was on myspace I saw his page and it had this song as his profile song. I just figured it described bubbles enough to be his profile song. It made me think about bubbles wondering about what happened to his parents. I still think its a pretty good song for his character.
bugged the shit out of Sandbox to play "And the mood changes" one night at AJ's Hangar in Kingston, but they kept laughing at me and shaking their head, still love them
